There is no way to make it less complicated, time-efficient, and easy. Well, that’s not true.

Fortunately, linking building doesn’t have to be a hard nut to crack because SEO link building tools can catalyze the link building process and make things less of a hassle for you.

The world of SEO is in a constant state of a stir.

Reason? Because Google’s engineers are all the time busy, creating something to shake the SEO world.

In fact, Google rolls out hundreds of updates every year. Only in 2018, Google reportedly rolled out around 3, 234 updates. That means an average of almost 9 per day.

With so much going on in the SEO’s landscape, it is hard to predict what makes a site rank higher than the others.

But despite all the uncertainty surrounding the SEO world, a few factors certainly work for ranking a site.

Link building is one of them!

In this post, I have brought an extended insight into the world of link building to boost your SEO efforts for good.

You are also going to get a bonus of 3 link building strategies that guarantee quality links!

So, let’s begin our journey.

What is Link Building?

“Link building is the process of getting backlinks from other websites to your own website. And backlinks are links coming from one page of a website to a page on another website.”

how backlink workBacklinks are in the SEO game since the initial days of Google.

Larry Page invented PageRank that measured a page’s quality for ranking based on the number of it’s backlinks.

More backlinks you had, the higher you would rank.

quality links matterIt changed the face of the search market and marked backlinks as a significant SEO factor.

It means that link building is a critical SEO practice that you just can’t avoid.

Now you may ask why link building is important for SEO.

The reason is simple:

Google takes backlink as a signal of a page’s popularity.

More backlinks are taken as if a page is a popular and useful source for others. So, it gets ranked.

That’s why when we are almost three decades down since the PageRank era, backlinks still stay as a strong SEO factor.

In fact, backlinks are one of the two most important ranking factors, as mentioned by Andrey Lipattsev, Google’s Search Quality Senior Strategist.

But all backlinks are not the same.

Types of Link Building

There are three types of links based on the way you earn them through different types of link building in SEO.

1. Natural Editorial Links – the Love of Google

If you ask me which links Google prefers?

Without any second thought, I would say: natural editorial links.

Natural editorial links are like a heavenly bestowed blessing for any website because people give them naturally.

But why would people give you a link without even asking?

Obviously, no one is sitting on the internet to do charity or some good deeds by helping others in becoming successful.

Well, here is when the actual quest begins.

Getting this type of holy link is not easy. In fact, this is one of the hardest jobs for any SEO expert.

To get such types of links, you should…

  • Produce high-quality content
  • Have something worth sharing
  • Have something that others lack
  • Provide them value

Besides having valuable and novel content, you also need to make people aware of your existence.

Do you know that WordPress users post over 2 million blogs every day? And these numbers are for 2016 and just for WordPress users.

So, in the sea of content, it is hard to get attention from other bloggers even if you have produced something amazing.

But if you have managed to attract others, it will turn into a jackpot for you.

It will not only improve your search engine’s rankings but will also drive traffic to your site and kick-boost sales.

Wait!

The best thing is yet to come…

If you have produced valuable and high-quality content, managed to attract bloggers’ attention, it will yield valuable results for a long time to come.

You don’t have to worry about the link juice; it will keep on flowing even if you forget about it or stop making efforts to get links.

For instance, this article was published in 2014. Almost 6 years ago.

ahrefs overviewBut you can see that it still manages to get a few backlinks.

And what is even better? Google loves such links, and these links are more likely to stand the test of time.

Why? Because they…

  • Are natural
  • Don’t clash with Google’s link building policy
  • Are editorially placed
  • Are meant to provide value to users

In other words: They are good to go!

You can see that this blog is ranking second on Google – even after 6 years.

google serp overviewSee? Natural links can do the trick!

2. Manually Outreached Links – Reaching Out to Bloggers

This link building practice is one of the widely used link building techniques. And it also works!

In simple words, manual outreach link building means manually approaching webmasters and bloggers to ask them for a link.

But you can’t contact every blogger you encounter because getting a link is not the only purpose.

You have to get quality links. Full stop!

If you are not getting quality links, all your efforts are useless.

Besides that, you should not clash with the link scheme practices mentioned in the Google guide.

It means that you should not…

buy links

exchange rewards (goods & services) for links

send a gift to get links

exchange links

exchange linksIf you do any one of these practices, it wouldn’t be considered as manual outreach, and Google’s system will catch you.

And it is never a good option to be in bad books of Google.

The critical thing to remember here is that there is a slight difference between the manually outreached links and spammy links.

You need to keep that difference to stay on the safe end.

3.   Self-Created, Non-Editorial Links – Not a Good Idea

When it is about doing things to grab the top position on the search engines, there is always one of the two things:

  • There is a right way.
  • And there is a wrong way.

You should always focus on the right ways.

And avoid self-created links because they fall into the bracket of black hat SEO practices – a wrong way.

Here are some black hat link building techniques indicated by Google:

black hat link building techniquesSo, what does it mean?

You should avoid optimized links in:

  • Blog comments
  • Press releases
  • Article directories
  • Advertorials
  • Infographics
  • Embeddable widgets
  • Forum signatures
  • Guestbooks

After the core Penguin update, Google devalues and penalizes such sites involved in any one of the link building tactics mentioned above.

The story is simple: Old days of PageRank are gone.

Before, wrong ways were also the right ways because they were acceptable for Google. But not anymore!

No more PBNs, link schemes, and tricks to ditch search engines.

With so many algorithms and Google updates, there is no space for ‘wrong ways.’

So, definitely, you are left with no choice but to go for the ‘right ways’ if you don’t want to get swept by Google’s Penguin.

Besides that…

Now Google doesn’t consider all kinds of backlinks important because all types of links are not weighted equally.

The quantity of links has been replaced by the quality of links.

Besides that, here is what else it means to have a high-quality link.

QUALITY 1: Linking Site is a High Authority Site

Google gives more value to links coming from high authority sites rather than low authority sites.

Authority of a linking site is an essential determinant for Google to decide whether the link is a high quality site or not.

This is called ‘Domain Authority.

More a site has domain authority, the more valuable its link becomes.

In other words, the previous face of PageRank has changed. Quality has replaced quantity.

Now, things work like this:

Linking Site is a High Authority SiteReason? Well, it’s simple.

Links are like votes. You know votes of higher-ups matter more in finalizing a decision rather than a random person’s.

Similarly, Google considers votes of high DA sites more worthy than low authority sites’ votes.

When a site links to your website, it also transfers its authority to your site.

Resultantly, your site also becomes authoritative for Google.

QUALITY 2: Link is Coming from a Niche-Specific Site

Sites link out to your site due to one of the following reasons:

If they want to give a reference of given information.

If they want to give an example to elaborate something.

If they have to enhance readers’ knowledge on a subject matter.

This is all possible if their site is related to your site.

Like, if you have published an article related to different types of furniture, which articles are likely to link to your article?

Obviously, articles about lifestyle, home improvement, and décor rather than articles talking about digital marketing, SEO, or criminal lawyer.

Niche-Specific SiteQUALITY 3: Link is Coming from a New Site

Do you count the vote of a person twice?

Hopefully, your answer is ‘no.’ The same is the case with Google.

Google gives more value to a link if it is coming from high authority, niche-specific, and a NEW site.

Getting a link from the same site, again and again, does no good for your SEO efforts.

Why?

Because Google only gives value to the first link coming from a site.

Second, and third links from the same website don’t contain the equal value even if the site has a high domain authority.

Link is Coming from a New SiteThe best practice is to diversify your link profile.

The more diversified link profile you have, the better it is for your SEO efforts.

In fact, a study shows that the number of sites linking to your website is directly correlated with the Google ranking.

sites linking to your websiteIt means greater the number of referring domains; higher will be your Google ranking.

QUALITY 4: Link’s Anchor Text is a Keyword

Here, things get a bit tricky.

In case you don’t know,

“Anchor text is a clickable word, words, or phrase, with an embedded link of the linked site.”

There are varied opinions on what type of anchor text you should use to get the best results, along with avoiding Google’s wrath.

Google considers keyword-rich anchor texts as a link scheme practice.

link scheme practiceBut using the right anchor text is also important.

Why?

Because Google uses it to understand what the linked page is about and for which keyword it should be ranked.

As explained in a research paper of Google’s founders:

The text of links is treated in a special way in our search engine. Most search engines associate the text of a link with the page that the link is on. In addition, we associate it with the page the link points to. This has several advantages. First, anchors often provide more accurate descriptions of web pages than the pages themselves. Second, anchors may exist for documents which cannot be indexed by a text-based search engine, such as images, programs, and databases.”

It shows that an anchor text is not ‘just a text used for linking.’

It is a valuable indicator that Google uses to understand the nature and topic of a page.

So, it is good to use the keyword as the anchor text because it not only helps Google to understand the page but may also help in improving the ranking for the keyword.

A study by Ahrefs found a correlation between the percentage of exact match anchor text and Google ranking.

A study by AhrefsNow, you think that it is the best idea to use the exact-match keyword in every link building effort. Right?

Well, not really.

Remember, we talked about how Google considers using excessive keyword-rich anchor text as a link scheme?

That’s where the tricky part begins.

The best practice is to use keyword-related anchor texts, but avoid going over the board that it starts looking spammy.

Better be safe than sorry!

QUALITY 5: Link is Placed on the Right Spot

Now we know that Google doesn’t give equal weightage to links coming from different sites.

Similarly, Google also has different criteria for measuring the significance of links placed within the content.

A link placed within the content, surrounded by relevant content, is more valuable than the link placed in a sidebar, footer, or at the bottom in the author’s bio.

Take it as a classroom.

You know students sitting on the front, and in the middle get more attention than backbenchers and sideliners.

That’s what happens here. An editorially placed link takes all the love of Google, leaving little to no love for backbencher and sideliner links.

So, what should you be doing?

Simple: Place your link at the top or in the middle of the content to get the love of Google.

Link is Placed on the Right SpotQUALITY 6: Link is Coming Naturally to Your Site

Google is not dumb. It is way too smarter than you think.

It has many signals to catch sneaky links (Obviously, it hasn’t disclosed those signals!).

It understands right away if a backlink is coming naturally or not.

And sometimes, finding unnatural backlinks is not rocket science.

Here are two such examples:

If an anchor text is not naturally placed…

It is no brainer to understand that if someone is naturally linking to your site, then anchor text should be placed naturally.

That’s where the idea of ‘editorially placed anchor text’ comes in.

Look up an example:

Here, BreathingHappy has given backlinks to some companies.

BreathingHappy has given backlinksWhat’s going on here?

The writer is giving some pretty good suggestions to its readers to buy good food by providing links to some good companies.

It is all-natural and clean.

And it is okay for Google as well because why would Google bother if someone is providing value to its readers?

Now, look at this anchor text:

anchor textYou can tell right away that something is fishy here.

It looks forcefully added. No?

If you can tell that, then Google can also sense it.

Result?

Not very promising.

If a page is getting too many links…

Let’s take an example to understand this point.

For instance, you run an SEO blog, and you have posted various blogs talking about different dimensions of SEO, like link building, content marketing, guest posting, etc.

So, what looks more natural? All blogs getting some links or only one blog getting many links?

Yes, Google can also figure it out.

Understandably, if you have written a fantastic piece of content, you want to blow it out.

But always keep things moderate and do link building for other pages to stay safe.

do link building for other pagesThese are just a few indicators of unnatural link building practices.

Google looks up various factors in deciding whether a link is good or bad.

If a link is valuable, you are good to go.

And if a link is bad, then Google doesn’t give you any notification or say anything. It just ignores the link!

Well, that’s what John Muller said:

If we recognize them, we can just ignore them – no need to have you do anything in most cases.”

Some Best Link Building Practices to Save Your Day

We have talked about some traits of valuable links, but the real struggle is to get those links.

You can’t buy them.

You can’t unnaturally build them.

You can’t get involved in tricking the PageRank.

And… people don’t link to you on their own.

Unfortunately, people need to know that you exist to link to you.

So, winning the SEO world is not all about writing good content, and then waiting for the people to link to your content.

You have to make an effort to get a link – safe, clean, and legit effort.

But remember that every link building effort is not fruitful.

So, here I have come up with three link building ways that have a higher possibility of winning a link than others.

❖   Broken Link Building:

Ever encountered that annoying Error 404 page?

I know it is one of the most annoying things on the internet, but it can turn into your savior for link building.

Broken Link BuildingThat’s the key behind the idea of broken link building.

If you are thinking about how to do broken link building, then don’t worry.

The trick is simple.

  • Step 1: Find resource pages in your niche.
  • Step 2: See if anyone of them has a broken link.
  • Step 3: Email the owner about the broken link.
  • Step 4: Offer your link as a replacement.

You can find your niche-specific resource pages easily.

For instance, if your niche is home décor, you can use these strings to find resource pages:

“home décor” + “resource page”

“home décor” + “sites recommendation”

“home décor” + “recommended sites”

“home décor” + “links”

“home décor” + “resources”

Don’t stick to only one search string. Try out different strings to get an exhaustive list of resource pages.

To give you an idea, a resource page looks like this:

a resource pageOnce you find the required resource pages, you can see if anyone of them has a broken link.

You can find broken links through Ahrefs site explorer feature.

Ahrefs site explorer featureGo to site explorer > add the link > click the ‘broken’ link

Ahrefs broken linkbuildingRemember that it might be hard to find a broken link. So, you have to put a bit of effort here and try out different resource pages.

But once you locate broken links on a page, it can be a bullseye for you.

After that, you can send an email to the site owner, tell them about the broken link, and request a link.

If your email gets read, there is a high chance that you may end up getting a link.

The reason is simple:

  • You are telling them about an error.
  • And also offering a solution.

And people love both these things.

❖    Link Roundups:

Like resource pages, link roundups are also an effective resource of getting a link.

Why?

Because link roundups are there to get links. They are looking out for you to give a link.

If you qualify the criteria, you can get a link because that’s what they do.

In case you don’t know what link roundups are:

Link roundups are weekly or monthly curated links of topics/sites in a particular niche.

They are fantastic sources to get a link through these steps:

  • Step 1: Look up your niche-specific link roundups.
  • Step 2: Email the owner and request to add you.
  • Step 3: Get a link.

You can find out link roundups using strings you used for finding resource pages.

For instance, for your ‘home décor’ niche, you can use these search strings:

“home décor” + “link roundup”

“home décor” + “weekly roundup”

“home décor” + “monthly roundup”

“home décor” + “weekly link”

They look like this:

links distributionDon’t end things after getting a couple of roundups.

You need a handful of options because you don’t know the possibility of how many emails will get read.

After getting a list of names, reach out to them.

But make sure that your content is worth getting mentioned in these roundups.

If it is, then the link is yours.

❖    Guest Posting:

With so many link building options, people think that guest posting is dead.

Well, it is not.

In fact, I have written a whole post that shows how I boosted businesses of my 100+ agencies clients through guest posting.

guest postingSo, guest posting is not at all dead, and it still works great for link building if you carry it out in the right way.

But guest posting is a bit tricky because it comes up with some rules.

Always manually outreach sites.

Select high-quality sites.

Create amazing content.

Place an editorial link.

Select only niche-specific sites.

All these things make guest posting a bit lengthy process:

  • Step 1: Manually outreach the best niche-specific sites.
  • Step 2: Create an awesome article with an editorial link to your site.
  • Step 3: Get your post published.

Apparently, it might look super easy. But honestly, it can be a bit of time taking.

The biggest hurdle is where to publish your content?

There is a hard way and a short cut.

The hard way is to search blogs accepting guest posts through Google.

Just type: “list of – your niche – blogs that accept guest posts.”

But it can be time taking because you might get the list of websites, but you will have to check that they are high authority sites or not.

Pretty complicated – right?

That’s why we all live for shortcuts.

So, here you go…

First, find out the guy in your industry who is doing guest posting a lot.

Once you find that dude, you can easily see where he is guest blogging.

You can use Ahrefs Content Explorer to find out the backlink profile of your competitor, and find out from where they got those links.

Ahrefs Content ExplorerResults look like this:

Ahrefs analysisGREAT!

It can help you find out where they are doing guest posting… so can you!

Conclusion

Now we have got past the question of how important is link building for SEO. Because we know that it is crucial… very, very important.

But the secret lies in the way you build links.

Links are like votes, so Google only counts valuable links.

The good thing is that there are many link building strategies that you can employ to get high quality and editorially placed links without pinching PageRank.

It requires effort, time, and focus, but at the end of the day, everything is worth it.

Google has clear priorities: it focuses on quality more than quantity.

So, getting a quality link is better than bagging 1000 low-quality links.

Once you get a good backlink profile, good things start flowing towards you – high search engine ranking is a part of it.

Why some websites rank better than others?

The whole practice of search engine optimization (SEO) is based on finding the answer to this question.

In fact, if you look into Google’s SEO starter guide, you get a pretty clear view of how does SEO work.

“Search engine optimization (SEO) is often about making small modifications to parts of your website. When viewed individually, these changes might seem like incremental improvements, but when combined with other optimizations, they could have a noticeable impact on your site’s user experience and performance in organic search results.”

SEO’s world is always in a state of a stir.

We are two decades down since the inception of Google, and we are still struggling to find the answer to the question: why some websites do better on SERP than others?

If it would have been the early days of Google, then our answer would have been:

Because they add a lot of related keywords

Because they have a lot of links

But it’s 2020, and now, Google is no more about keyword stuffing and counting just quantity of links, not quality.

seo in early days

Now Google has become a lot smarter, and it uses at least 200 ranking factors to decide the fate of any website (some revealed, others unrevealed).

In this scenario, when someone asks me about the best SEO techniques, I always say that it is a mix and match of things – a bit of this and a bit of that.

the best SEO techniques

You can’t say that okay, doing this and that will do the trick for you.

You have to work on many levels. You have to work with consistency. And… you have to do the right things.

So, considering this…

How much does SEO cost?

Now you might be thinking that SEO will be then a costly affair if you have to do so many things.

Well, the answer is ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

This is a reality that every year, companies spend around $65 billion on SEO practices.

Yes, SEO gets costly at times when you hire a professional SEO expert.

But the good thing is that winning the SEO world is not equal to breaking your bank.

If you know a few workable ‘How to do SEO’ tricks, you can do things yourself, and it will not cost you even a dime.

Do SEO for Free Without Spending a Lot of Money

Here are some SEO tips that you can pull yourself easily without any professional help.

Guess what? They are proven and tested, so they actually work!

1. Add Your Keywords Strategically

Keyword stuffing is wrong.

But adding keywords is essential.

So, where does heaven rest?

Well, somewhere between putting the right keywords in the right place.

It means that adding keywords matter but where you add them matters more.

So, what should you be doing?

You can add keywords sparingly in the content, but…

Always add the keyword at the top.

Put the keyword around which you want to optimize your content in the heading and the first paragraph.

Why?

Because that’s what Google counts for ranking.

For instance, these are top searches for the keyword ‘content marketing strategy’.

SERP overview

Let’s see how they have added the targeted keyword.

added the targeted keyword

You can see that the keyword was used in the title, as well as in the first paragraph.

Both the things are at the top.

And the other best practice is to use the keyword in H1 or H2.

Though the top ranking blog has not followed this practice, the second-ranking blog has added the keyword in H1.

heading tag

It means that cherries should always be at the top.

2. Write a Unique Title Tag and Meta Description

It is seriously heartbreaking to see how some people handle their title tags and meta descriptions carelessly.

Paying some attention to creating high-quality title tags and unique meta description can give a free boost to your on-page SEO.

ranking of seo

Source: Databox

You can see that both of them make up an essential part of on-page SEO, and Google also wants you to give importance to them.

seo overview

So, Google is asking you to make high-quality title tags. And what does it mean?

It means that you should:

  • Write descriptive and concise titles that tell the users what your page is about
  • Create a unique title tag for each page of your site

…and you shouldn’t:

Do keyword stuffing that involves unnecessary addition of keywords.

keyword stuffing

That’s the story of the title tags.

And Google expects you to treat meta descriptions in the same way – the right way.

meta description

So, what should you be doing with the meta description?

Google clearly asks you to write:

  • Different descriptions for different pages.
  • Informative and factually correct content.
  • Descriptions without long strings of keywords.
  • Quality descriptions that are readable and understandable.

And this is not beneficial for SEO only.

It also improves the quantity and quality of your traffic.

And Google also acknowledges it.

gooogle also acknowledge

It means that good quality title tags can improve your site’s CTR (click-through rate). Another important SEO factor!

Understandably, people read the title tag and the meta description to decide whether they should click your link or not.

After all, no one has time to click useless articles. They want the best value for their time.

So, what you should be adding in your meta description to make it a ‘clicking’ trap?

You can add…

  • A brief description that summarizes your topic.
  • The most informative and striking excerpt of your content.
  • Engaging facts that capture attention.
  • Innovative point related to the topic that most people don’t know.
  • Thought provoking question that intrigues people to read your content to find its answer.

In short, do whatever it takes you to grab prospects’ attention, except creating this kind of description…

meta description overview

Vague. Incomprehensible. Boring. Poor.

3. Focus on Mobile-First Policy

In 2020, 53.81% of Google traffic comes from mobiles and 43% from the desktop.

So, there is no wonder that Google has adopted the policy of mobile-first for ranking any website.

Mobile-First

The mobile-first policy means that your page should properly fit into the small screen of the mobile and give a seamless user experience.

It is way too crucial for higher ranking than you think.

higher ranking

4. Optimize Your Images

Images and other visual content are an effective way to make your page super hit – 51%of B2B marketers believe in this fact.

It means that more and more people are focusing on creating images to make their content more appealing.

But here is a problem: Google can’t see your image. It reads.

Google is becoming very smart with its machine learning update. And this update is more significant than you think.

But still, there is always a gray area and the possibility that Google might not understand your image properly.

So, the best practice is to facilitate Google in understanding your image, rather than testing its machine learning ability.

And that’s not the only reason why you should be working on image optimization.

Now Google is also considering image optimization for ranking a page.

Well, that’s what Google Webmaster Trends Analyst, Gary Illyes, said in his Reddit AMA session.

“Google Images and Video search is often overlooked, but they have massive potential.”

Here are some very simple tricks to optimize your image:

  • Give a Proper Name to Your File

Don’t name your ‘image file’ as ‘image’. Yes, your image is an image, we know that.

But Google wants to know what the image is about.

proper name

So, give a proper name to your file.

  • Use Descriptive Alt Text for Image

Google doesn’t have kept people at the other end to read your text for indexing. It has bots for this purpose – in other words, the machine system.

And you know, the machine is – a machine. It can’t read and comprehend an image like humans.

It needs support for understanding any image – and Alt Text provides it.

image alt text

But you shouldn’t be doing two things:

  • Adding incomplete alt text.
  • Adding a pool of keywords.

keyword in alt

So, what you should be doing is:

image alt guide

  • Use Unique Images

Copying stock images that multiple sites are using does no good for your SEO efforts.

They might visually appeal to readers, but Google doesn’t get impressed with them.

So, what should you do?

Simple: create unique and relevant images for SEO purposes rather than going with ‘free’ or ‘shutter stock’ images.

unique and orignal image

We know that Google gives importance to mobile-friendly content.

Similarly, a mobile-friendly image is also vital for SEO.

Well, that’s what Google is saying:

responsive image

If you want to get the maximum benefits for your image creation efforts, make sure your image transits from desktop to mobile without distorting or expanding.

5. Send Link Juice through Internal Links

Just recall why you develop backlinks?

  • To strengthen your link profile.
  • To give authority to your site.
  • To boost search engine ranking.
  • To make it appear like a valuable resource.

That’s what internal links also do.

And it’s super easy!

You just have to link one page to another page on the same domain.

And the linking page will send its juice, or authority, to the linked page. Simple!

But here is a trick:

Use relevant keywords to put an internal link because Google takes keyword to understand what the linked page is about.

relevant anchor text

And more internal links a page gets, the more relevant it becomes for Google.

But wait!

Always make sure that…

The link is naturally placed.

The link is coming from a relevant page.

Using the same anchor text is good, but diversifying it is also important.

And there is not too much linking that it looks spammy.

THAT’S THE WAY!

6. Create Crazy Rich Content

Content is for SEO, what Newton is for Physics.

Like, seriously, you can’t take the name of one without mentioning the other.

That’s why now 90% of B2C marketers are developing a content strategy.

Pick a case study of any successful SEO campaign, and you will realize that content has somehow played the role of the catalyst.

Need some inspiration? Here you go:

Brian Dean – Backlinko

linkbuilding case study

Brian Dean, on his website’s blog, himself tells how he boosted his organic traffic.

And what is that secret method?

Well, he used the Skyscraper Technique for link building to trigger his SEO efforts.

And then what happened? It brought desired results.

Now you might be thinking about how ‘Content’ fits into this case study?

The answer lies in the working of the skyscraper technique.

So, this link building technique works on four basic principles:

  1. Finding the best industry content for your targeted keyword.
  2. Creating even better content than that content.
  3. Outreaching people, linking to previous great content, with an engaging email.
  4. Presenting your content as a better option.

That’s it!

And result? Well, in the case of Brian Dean, he was able to increase his search traffic to 110%.

So, what happened?

He created ‘SUPER HIGH-QUALITY CONTENT’ that was hard to find anywhere else.

See? High-quality content paved the way for amazing SEO benefits.

Nathan Gotch – Gotch SEO!

page conversion

Nathan Gotch reveals on his blog how he converted his squeeze page into a conversion booster.

74.5% conversion through the squeeze page is pretty crazy. Because according to Unbounce, 12% conversion means you are better than 90%.

So, what he actually did?

  1. Before landing his prospects, he warmed up people with highly valuable content.
  2. Created catchy headlines that attracted readers.
  3. Developed a super-effective CTA copy.

You can see that content was the driving force behind all these three things.

Robbie Richard – Robbierichard.com

seo case study

Robbie Richard shared on his blog a case study of one of his readers, showing how he boosted the traffic of his client to 150,732.

The 6-step process was simple:

  1. Do keyword research for finding topics that do the best
  2. Write fantastic content around those keywords
  3. Fulfill basic One-page SEO requirements, including creating engaging title tag and meta description
  4. Get a list of email subscribers
  5. Promote your content with engaging emails
  6. Build backlinks through various link building techniques

Now, from 1 to 6, you can see that ‘content’ has played a major or minor role in powering each step.

The Major Take Away?

Invest time, money, and strength in creating fantastic content because it will somehow pay you back in the form of:

  • High rankings
  • Increase in traffic
  • High ROI rate
  • More leads

So, your every bit of time, money, and strength is worth spending on creating high-quality content that people and Google love.

7. Create Lengthy Content

Lengthy content is a new parameter for quality content – and stats support it.

Most of the top-ranking content has an average 1,140-1,285 words.

It means that those 500-700 words articles are not that helpful in boosting your SEO effort.

Even 1000+ word articles don’t sound so amazing.

For example, this is a top-ranking post for the keyword ‘Content Marketing Strategy.’

serp overview of keyword

Guess the total number of words of this article?

Well, 2930+ words.

Similarly, this post for keyword ‘DIY Home Décor Ideas’ is ranking on the top.

similar serp overview of keyword

Guess how many words it has?

Answer: 2230+

It means that if you want your content to do well on search engines, lengthy content is the way.

It will take a lot of time because…

You have to research like crazy

Compile data diligently

Analyze data smartly

Create content intelligently

And… promote post arduously.

But this whole effort will be worth it.

8. Focus on Link Building

Link building has long been in the ranking game, and it is not ready to go anywhere soon.

The only change is in the way Google analyzes these links.

Like, before Google only focused on quantity, but now quality matters.

Before spammy links were okay, now they are not at all acceptable.

link scheme

But it is okay!

You have many amazing link building ways that you don’t need to look for sneaky ways.

Here are my top three go-to link building ways along with reasons why I love them.

  • Guest Posting

I love guest posting as a link building technique.

In fact, I have been doing it for myself and my clients for many years, and it never disappoints me.

And here is the proof.

guest posting score

See?

Guest posting can play a huge role in your SEO efforts by building quality links.

  • Link Roundups

In case, you don’t know about link roundups, here is your go:

“Link roundups are daily, weekly, or monthly roundups, mentioning links of the industry’s best content and websites.”

In easy words, building links through link roundups means getting mentioned on blogs that give the list of top content.

Visually, that’s how sites mention link roundups:

content overview

And this definition takes you to why I like it:

  • You get a quality link from a high authority site.
  • You establish authority as you get a shout out from an established blog.
  • You build credibility because you are mentioned under ‘the best’s’ list.
  • Copy Competitor’s Backlinks

Copying your competitors’ backlink profile is a super-easy way to know the source of getting backlinks.

And it is really easy.

You just need to put your competitor’s URL in the backlink analysis tool, and… bang!

You get the secret of their success.

Like, go to MOZ Open Site Explorer.

moz link explorer

Type in URL of your competitors, and you will get the secret of their ranking.

After getting the backlink profile, you can reach out to all those people linking to your competitors.

If you also have fantastic linkable content, you can manage to get a link.

Why do I like this technique?

Well, who doesn’t like getting good things without putting much effort?

Conclusion

The quest to grab a place on the first page of Google seems pretty legit when you know that only top searches get the cherry.

Around 75% of traffic goes to the first search page only. It shows that you have to buckle up to manage your place in the top 5 organic rankings.

Businesses are spending millions to keep a hold on top rankings.

So it is hard for new businesses or small businesses with fewer budgets to dethrone well-established businesses.

But the good thing about SEO is that if you keep on walking the straight path with consistency, strategy, and fairness, you can change your bottom line gradually.

And it also doesn’t always cost you a leg and an arm.

Bang! Now Google is a word in the dictionary, and it is a synonym of the word ‘search.’ It is enough to show that Google’s game in the world of search engines is way too strong.

With 3.5 billion searches per day, Google reigns the world of search engines, and businesses have to struggle to come in the good books of Google to mark their online success.

It’s a furious competition!

You are running in the race with countless businesses that all want to rank 1 on Google. But here is a twist: the criteria to reach the finish line keep on changing, and you have to cope with this twist while still trying to win the race.

You don’t have any other choice. No one remembers the losers. People only talk about the winners.

Just ask yourself…

If you have a thing for sports, the probability is that you would have heard the name of Muhammad Ali – even if you don’t like boxing that much.

But do you know the name of Muhammad Ali’s opponents? Maybe you remember Ken Norton because he got to break the jaw of Ali in a match or Joe Frazier, who gave Ali his first loss.

What about others? It is hard to recall all of them because people only remember those who managed to stay on the top somehow.

The same is the case in Google’s world. Only 0.78% of searchers bother to consider searches on the 2nd page.

That’s why you also need to win the race of SERP because that’s the only way to…

  • Enhance your visibility
  • Establish authority
  • Get more organic traffic
  • Increase your sales

Yes, ranking high on Google is equal to getting all the cherries of the cake – in fact, you can also own the cake. But how to do that?

First, there isn’t any secret way.

Second, na, not even magic.

Third, you have to do everything the right way.

Fourth, it takes time, creativity, and patience.

Fifth, it is not impossible.

Yes, SEO is a hard nut to crack, but your consistency and the right strategies can do the trick.

Here I have come up with proven and tested strategies on how to rank higher on Google that will surely break the code for you.

Sharpen Up Your On-Page SEO

On-page, or on-site, SEO is one of the essential SEO factors you need to increase Google search rank.

On-page SEO is all about working on the optimization of the on-page content.

The good thing is that it is not that hard.

A few tweaks on your website’s content can bring a lot of SEO perks for you.

But unfortunately, most people focus on off-page SEO more than on-page SEO.

And that’s why things don’t work for them because even if people have forgotten about on-page SEO, Google still remembers it and gives it high importance.

Google has written in its on-page optimization guide clearly that SEO practices can improve SERP rankings.

So, what do people forget to add in their SEO recipe?

Irrespective of the order of importance in SEO, you should work on all these factors with equal importance.

  •  Write a Descriptive URL

A URL is not only your website’s clickable link. It has a whole science behind it.

website url

It has a root domain i.e., globexoutreach.com, in the above case. Specifications of a page then follow it.

So, a URL tells users where this page is from, and what is it about?

You might be asking, then where does the SEO factor come in?

Well, the way Google uses it.

  • To crawl and index the content it is referring to.
  • To refer users to it.

url usage by search engine

It is good to make your URL descriptive and add the main keyword in it so that Google can read and understand it clearly, and refer your prospects to it.

But avoid keyword stuffing – Google says:

avoid keyword stuffing

Don’t make your URL look spammy like this:

Anyone can tell that you have tried to trick search engines. And they don’t like it!

  •  Write High-Quality Title Tags

Creating high-quality title tags doesn’t cost you much, but it can bring a lot of benefits.

And Google also demands the same from you.

page title

It goes without saying that a good title that tells users what you are offering increases the possibility of getting a click. In fact, a good title tag can increase CTR between 20-100%.

And more CTR can help improve page rankings because Google takes it as an indicator that people are finding your page relevant.

Though this description is for Ads, you can take it for pages as well as it gives a clear insight into how Google gives importance to relevance for ranking.

So, what should you add in your title tag to increase CTR?

Question: What else do all these examples of title tags reveal?

Answer: It is always good to add your target keyword in your title tag for SEO purposes.

ahrefs keywords stuffing

But again… no keyword stuffing, please!

I am not the only one saying it. Google also wants you to avoid it:

avoid keyword stuffing google says

  • Don’t Miss Out on Meta-Descriptions

First, what are meta descriptions?

They are sentences or paragraphs that appear under the title tag in search results.

meta description

So, meta-description gives a short description to users about your content basically.

It also tells them what they were looking for.

Can you see where we are going?

It is leading us towards giving importance to increasing the click-through rate.

And we need it to stay relevant in the eyes of Google.

Choose Your Keywords Wisely

We all know that keywords are an essential SEO factor.

In fact, it is one of those SEO factors that have been in the game since the inception of Google.

However, things have changed. The era of keyword stuffing has long gone.

keyword stuffing

But using keywords is still essential to appear in the search result of the searchers.

It means you need to use a particular keyword to tell Google you are suitable for a search query.

In fact, people new to the SEO world are advised to get started with keywords.

databox keyword optimization

Now you might be asking how to rank for a keyword?

Things start getting tricky here.

You are not the only one who is running this business.

Every 6 months, 1.1 million domains are registered on WordPress.

You can see how competitive things are getting online.

So, ranking for a keyword is not easy.

Things get pretty tough, especially when you are after highly competitive keywords, i.e., keywords with a high volume of searches.

But you also can’t put irrelevant keywords or those very little to no search intent.

Obviously, if you are selling shoes, you can’t target clothes.

So, where is the safe end?

  • Go for Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords are highly specific keywords with lower competition.

But guess what?

These keywords are easy to rank and have a 3-5% better click-through rate.

And…

People’s search intent is getting specific. In fact, around 50% of searches contain 4 or more words.

It means that using long-tail keywords is not only safe, but that’s how your prospects are trying to search for you.

Instead of going head-on for competitive keywords, look out for keywords that your prospects are actually using with a high conversion rate.

Create Awesome High-Quality Content

Everyone who has anything to do with the online world – say, SEO consultants, digital marketers, and content strategists – talks about high-quality content.

In fact, many of them consider content as one of the most important SEO factors.

In fact, high-quality content is having 85% contribution to the success of B2B marketers.

But what does high-quality content mean?

Google has a clear guideline about high-quality content creation.

Always create well-written content i.e., grammatically correct, well-structured, and finely tuned content.

But in the World of SEO, high-quality content is a lot more than creating grammatically on-point and well-formatted content.

  • Write Super Engaging Content

A well-written and original content is useless if it doesn’t trigger readers to read it.

If readers don’t read it, they will click out.

If they click out, it will increase your bounce rate.

If your bounce rate increases, Google will take it as if your content doesn’t satisfy your visitors.

And if Google gets this notion, it will shove your website down in rankings.

See? Why creating engaging content is not just an option but a necessity for you.

That’s why 72% of content creators prefer to create engaging content.

b2b content creator

Now you may be asking how to create engaging content?

Well, it doesn’t require rocket science.

Add visual elements into your content

Forget about visual elements; let’s make Alfredo Pasta.

So…

Boil pasta.

Cook chicken.

Add spices.

Combine both of them.

Is it ready now?

Hopefully, your answer is no.

If you are a pasta freak, you would know that we missed out on Alfredo sauce, the main ingredient.

As Alfredo pasta is incomplete without Alfredo sauce, the same goes for visual elements in creating an engaging content.

Visual elements are Alfredo sauce for engaging content.

So, what does it mean?

The whole flavor of engaging content gets missing if you don’t add visual elements. And people’s responses support it.

55% people agree that they pay close attention to visual content

content formatting

People don’t like reading long logs of the content without any visual element.

But besides increasing people’s engagement and attraction, you can also use visual content to:

Create a good impression on readers.

Help readers understand the information effectively.

Help readers pick up the required information quickly and easily.

Enhance the information retention ability of readers.

See? Tweaking your content writing approach a bit can do good things for you on so many levels.

Create infographics. Add explanatory images. Put videos. Make CTA banners.

Do whatever goes with your overall feel of the content. BUT DO IT.

  • Create In-Depth & Detailed Content

I have pretty good reasons to say that in-depth content is high-quality content.

To prove this, let’s do some mental exercise.

We know that Google ranks high-quality content.

And research shows that lengthy content is doing better on search engine rankings.

To be more specific…

content length

So, if lengthy content ranks more, and Google ranks only high-quality content.

Isn’t it evident that well-written, in-depth content is also taken as high-quality content by Google?

Moreover, longer posts also manage to get more social shares.

loger post social shares

You might be asking what social media shares has to do with SEO?

The answer is that search engines take social media shares as a sign of popularity and relevance.

And if a thing is relevant and popular among readers, it gets a boost.

study conducted by Hootsuite supports it. In 2018, they tested the SEO results of articles that got social media shares, and that didn’t.

And what was the result? Well, content with social media shares got a 22% boost.

So, instead of writing the usual 500-800 words post, go for longer blog posts.

It takes time, but ultimately, all the effort and time spent is worth it.

  • Create Content with an Edge

Backlinks are an essential SEO factor.

In fact, it is one of the top-ranking factors that Google considers.

But why will people link to your site?

WordPress reveals that 70 million posts are published every month.

There are so many options online, so why should people choose your site over others?

For example, for ‘how to decorate bathroom shelves,’ there are around 14, 300, 000 search results.

google serp

And it is such a huge number to choose from.

But wait… Let’s forget about 14, 299, 092 results.

How do you decide which article is better than the other 8-10 articles appearing on the first page?

Obviously, your content has to be better than the others – it should have an edge.

So…

If everyone is writing 15 tips articles, take your tips to 25 or more.

If everyone is writing on outdated techniques, try to give a new idea.

If others are discussing the same case studies, find out new case studies to stand out.

It demands dedication, focus, and a lot of research, but every link counts in defining the fate of your SERP ranking.

DO EVERY ‘GOOD THING’ TO SECURE A LINK!

Pay Attention to People’s Search Intent

With the inception of RankBrain, things have changed the way Google analyzes a query.

Google has become a lot smarter in defining whether your content fits in a particular type of keyword query or not.

Like, Google now doesn’t push visitors to a SERP, but also calculates how the dude interacted with the results on the page.

Nick Frost, Head of Google Brain Toronto/Canada, explains RankBrain as:

“Google is now integrating machine learning into that process. So then training models on when someone clicks on a page and stays on that page, when they go back or when they and trying to figure out exactly on that relationship.”

According to this, we can say that maybe RankBrain works like this…

How_page_rank_works

It means that you should write and design your content in a way that increases dwell time.

We have already talked about the role of visual elements in increasing dwell time.

Here is what else you can do to increase dwell time on your page so that Google thinks that your content matches users’ intent.

  • Follow Compelling Format

Your title tag ensures click, and your content’s structure makes visitors read your content.

So, you should focus on a compelling format.

But how to write impactful content?

You can follow a few tried and tested formats that help you carve an impactful content.

Slippery Slide

How can you make your readers read the content from starting till the end?

When the top content pushes the readers to read the middle content, and middle content pushes further to read the bottom.

That’s the idea behind the slippery slide content writing pattern.

Joseph Sugarman, the man behind this concept, says about slippery slide as:

“Your readers should be so compelled to read your copy that they cannot stop reading until they read all of it as if sliding down a slippery slide.” (p. 49)

So, your job is to get the whole content read.

It can go like:

slide

  • Increase the Readability of Your Content

Readers don’t like to bang their heads with the walls of content.

They want content that has readability because your visitors are not always readers; some are skimmers.

In fact, skimming is becoming a new normal in the online world – and data supports it.

A 2008 study concluded that visitors only read about 20% of the content.

So, what should you be doing? Increase readability.

Use headings and Bullets:

Break the wall of content with headings and subheadings.

Let your readers know what your content is talking about by giving them mini signs in the form of subheadings.

Bullets can further enhance the readability by highlighting essential points separately.

Break Content in Chunks:

You can see throughout this blog that I haven’t written a big fat paragraph.

Why?

Because let’s be honest that dense paragraphs stuffed with words psychologically feel exhausting.

Your mind says: Eh! Do I have to read that much content?

So, trick the brain of readers with small chunks of content.

Don’t let their brain stray or feel burdened.

Give them a notion that everything is easy-breezy, dude. Keep on reading!

Focus on E-A-T Because Google Does the Same

The reason why SEO’s world is so dynamic is because Google is always looking out for ways to make things easier and better for the searchers.

In context to Google’s this quest, E-A-T is in the market now.

Now E-A-T (or Expertise, Authority and Trustworthiness) plays a part in deciding the SERP fate of a site.

If Google thinks that your E-A-T for a particular search query is good, it will rank your site higher. If not, your site will not get good rankings.

So, why Google found it essential to consider E-A-T?

Part of the reason is that Google wants to combat false information:

fals information

The other reason is its connection with RankBrain – the third major signal for ranking.

google algorithms

The question is: how can you improve your E-A-T for Google?

  •  Expert Content Creators

Google wants people to disseminate right and trustworthy information.

A person giving medical advice on a medical website should be a doctor, not a graduate in business. That’s what Google wants from you.

In Google guide, it is written clearly that:

The reputation and E-A-T of the creators of the MC is extremely important when a website has different authors or content creators on different pages.

content creator

But how does Google determine if a person is an expert or not?

The best practice is to give each article byline and details about the creator.

tips of serp

You can see that this is an article related to the law, and the byline says that the content creator is an attorney.

Now click on the creator’s name.

content creator bio

The link takes you to another page with a detailed creator’s bio that tells about the creator’s expertise and experience.

  • Make Sure Your Content Follows E-A-T

Your content should be of high quality to fulfill the parameter of the E-A-T.

Being high quality here means that:

high quality content

Make your website and content user-oriented that provide values and cover different dimensions of the topic.

In other words:

  • Always write 100% original content that provides value. Never-ever copy or duplicate content, and avoid keyword stuffing.
  • Be fair with Google as well as people.
  • Always look out for ways to provide a fantastic user experience to both the visitors – Google and people.
  • Don’t show Google and people what is not present on the page, be it in the form of cloaking, deceptive snippets, sneaky redirects, or keyword masking.

Promote Your Content Insanely

After writing an amazing content that:

Has the right keywords

Has the visual appeal

Follows the user intent

Has an edge

…your work doesn’t end.

You still have a long way to go because you have to promote your content as well.

Ask an expert about how to show up in Google search?

And you will get the answer: get backlinks.

Yes, you still need backlinks to get higher rankings, and for getting backlinks, people first need to know about your content.

That’s where promotions can help you.

And that struggle is not only for new or small audience base blogs. Even big giants also have to undergo the struggle of promotions to gather some buzz.

Like Brian Dean in one of his blogs gives credit to promotion for the success of many of his blogs.

promote your content

You can promote your blog through following ways:

  • Tell Your Newsletter Subscribers

If you have newsletter subscribers, it means that they are interested in your content.

After all, no one has time to subscribe to your newsletter randomly.

subscribe

See? Filling out a newsletter is not easy.

No one likes spending time giving out their personal information to random people, even if it just takes a few seconds to write your name and email address and push the red button.

But if someone is doing it, it means that he/she is interested in you.

So, reaching out to your subscribers can be a huge help in sharing your content to interested people.

  • Do Guest Posting

People ask me many times: “Is guest posting still useful?”

And I always say: Yes! Because it is true.

Guest posting is still working great for link building if you are not doing shady practices, like link scheming, keyword stuffing, or buying links.

links scheme

And the best thing about guest posting is that it is not only suitable for link building, but it is also a fantastic source of promotion.

Just imagine how powerful an editorially placed link can become when it is all surrounded by high-quality, relevant content.

It gives you authority and credibility…because being mentioned in a post of the high-authority site makes you credible for readers.

It brings qualified traffic on your site…because guest posts are usually published on niche-relevant sites with a targeted audience.

So, guest posting is a great way to promote your content among relevant audiences.

  •  Share Your Post on Social Media

If you have a social media handle, use it to promote your posts.

You don’t need thousands or millions of followers to get the best out of your social media promotions.

The key is to have interested and relevant followers.

Once you have them, even if they are just a couple of hundreds, they can become a great help for your content promotion.

People love sharing good things on their social media platforms because of their constant need to communicate and keep their profiles up-to-date.

In fact, a 2011 study found that around 27 million content is shared everyday.

content sharing

It means people do share content.

Just make sure your content has ‘shareability’ value, which means it has elements that people find worth sharing with others.

Go for Internal Link Building

Getting backlinks is one of the most important SEO factors. But internal link building also matters.

In an easy term, an internal link is a link that targets other pages present on the same website.

Usually, we link a page of a website with high authority to a page with less authority on the same website to transfer link juice of the first page to the second.

Sounds complicated?

Well, here is a visual representation to make things easier for you.

internal linkbuilding

So, what do internal links do?

These links are useful in three ways:

  • They make navigation easy for users.
  • They establish a site structure that is easily crawlable for Google’s spiders.
  • They distribute link power (or link equity) throughout the website.

Google also wants you to have a simple website navigation hierarchy for users to find the content without any hassle.

website navigaiton best practice

Forget about good content and perfect keyword placement, if Google is not able to find and index your page, nothing will work.

Internal linking is also essential from SEO’s point of view. Google first has to index you to rank you. It is as simple as that!

Unlike backlink building, you can use keyword-rich anchor text for internal linking as it helps Google to understand better that you are referring to which page.

anchor text usage

But here is a thing: Don’t create unnecessary links that are not helpful for the users, and are likely to confuse them.

excessively keyword filled

Conclusion

You have neither established your business to get lost in the pit of the search engines’ ranking pages, nor do you deserve it.

You have every right to shine on the top of search rankings, just like your competitors.

Instead of looking at your competitors topping the rankings with a sigh, you should pull up your own SEO game.

But the key is to stick to only Google-approved SEO techniques to avoid getting into bad books of Google.

The only way to cheat SEO ranking is by using the right cheat code, i.e., right SEO practices.

Avoid shady practices, focus on link building, promote your content, and keep the awesome content coming, and you will soon start witnessing positive results.

In fact, you wouldn’t have to ask again how to rank 1 on Google because that’s what you would already be doing.

Just stay patient, focused, develop a robust strategy, and implement – things will start falling into the bracket for you.

Question: Is it possible to boost 100 agencies’ business through guest posting within four years?

Answer: Yes.

Hard to believe? I can show you how I did it.

This is my story of how I used guest posting as a secret trick to fuel my 100+ agency clients within four years.

People ask me about my secret recipe, and I always say that there isn’t any secret recipe. I earned everything the hard way!

There is no shortcut in SEO if you are aiming for long term success. Look out for shortcuts, and soon you will be tumbling. Take the hard road, and you will go a long way. It is as simple as that!

Here is how things worked out for me.

When I Started, the SEO Industry was in a State of Turmoil…

Back in 2016, when I started my journey, the SEO industry was very shaky. To tell you the truth, I had witnessed many businesses falling apart when they were soaring high. All because of the abrupt Google’s updates!

Panda, Penguin, and Pigeon were all there to give businesses a hard time.

Believe me; search engines never care how passionate you are and how much money you have put on the stake. They only care about – well, themselves – just like any other business.

Remember that when you are facing search engines – say Google, luck is the last thing you can rely on. Only one Google update can end your game!

Here is a timeline of Google’s core updates that shaped the ‘modern SEO era’.

Googles core updates

Living in the complex world of Google, fighting with its bots, and dealing with its algorithm changes mean that you always have to find a safe end for your survival.

I found that in the form of guest posting services. And that’s from where my story of writing the success story of 100+ agencies began!

But before I break down my story, if you don’t know how guest posting strategy is a savior for your link building antics, here is some insight into this knight in shining armor for your business:

  • Panacea for Inbound Marketing Strategies:

What do businesses want?

Top search ranking…

More leads…

Enhance traffic…

Higher Conversion rate…

Establish brand credibility…

Build brand awareness…

Right?

And what if I say that guest blogging does all this for you? Yes, strange, but true.

Incorporating guest posting tactics in your SEO strategy can single-handedly help you establish brand authority, get convertible leads, relevant links, more traffic, increase sales, and so much more.

And this claim isn’t short of any proof. Many digital marketers swear by the effectiveness of guest blogs in making them who they are today.

Neil Patel, called as one of the top 10 marketers by Forbes, calls guest blogging strategy as his most treasured tool, and the force behind making QuickSprout, his personal blog, as successful as it is today.

Things also worked the right way for Danny Iny, the founder of Mirasee, when he switched to writing blogs for guest posting to increase his traffic. It not only helped him increase traffic but also built his email list.

Mirasee Blog

Source: Mirasee Blog

Well, his first blog was on an authority blog, Copyblogger. But not everyone gets the opportunity to land its very first blog on a big platform.

It doesn’t mean that you should give up on guest blogging SEO ideas if you don’t initially hit big.

But Danny Iny’s example surely gives a big hint: you need to do guest blogging the right way to get the right results.

Nothing less, nothing more!

Not all guest posts work the same way because guest posting in SEO is not only about creating content, publishing it on a blog, and getting a backlink.

It is way more than this.

You have to be on point to yield the desired results. That’s where many brands take a dip: they don’t know the right trick to incorporate guest posting antics in their inbound marketing strategies.

Before digging deeper into the significance of guest post articles, here is what doing guest blogging ‘the right way’ means:

Unfolding the secrets behind result-driven guest posting…

Creating the best guest blog should be centered on:

  • High-quality content that provides values
  • Authority sites to get authority links
  • No manipulation of links

These are the basic rules governing the world of guest blogging services, but all these rules have a world of their own.

You have to focus on each one of them to make things fall in the bracket for you.

  • Content is King, Treat it the Right Way

I can’t emphasize enough on the significance of the content in a guest article. Let me rephrase it: the significance of high-quality content.

Google is in a weird obsession with high-quality content, to be honest. If you want things to work out for you, you also have to be obsessed with it.

And it also pays back in the form of success.

content marketing institute

High-quality content doesn’t mean that only your language and grammar should be on point. It also means that…

  • Your topic should be well-researched
  • Content should be exciting and engaging
  • You provide value to readers

Let me admit that it is not easy to pull all these factors in one post, but you have to if you want things to work out.

Because according to Andrey Lipattsev, Google’s Search Quality Senior Strategist, high-quality content, and inbound links reign as the top two signals for Google algorithms.

So, you just can’t expect to land somewhere safe if you simply jump over the ‘high-quality content’ factor.

The good thing is that marketers are slowly but finally understanding the significance of creating engaging content. 72% of marketers give priority to creating more engaging content.

Top priorities for b2b content creators

Digital marketers call the content king of the SEO world. You have to treat this king the right way because it genuinely reigns inbound marketing strategies.

Besides creating engaging content, providing value to users is another factor that is hard to miss.

Your reader has so much to do and so many options that he just can’t stick to your post if you are telling him what he already knows.

According to Ann Handley, MarketingProfs’ chief content officer,

many of us vastly undervalue writing in the content process, which is why we have a tough time creating ‘engaging content’.

One of the reasons why marketers find it hard to create an engaging and valuable blog is because they create content to get links, not for providing value.

That’s where things start going out of the window.

Flip your blog creation goal the other way around, and you will see drastic changes in your content – a positive one.

  • Authority Links Spice Up Your Link Profile:

We have already talked about the significance of inbound links for Google’s algorithm.

ahrefs

Source: Ahrefs

You can see that the backlink factor plays a huge role in pacifying Google in your favor.

But while talking about backlinks, don’t forget to read the word ‘authority’ along! Search engines don’t fall for every backlink; only authority backlinks play their part in establishing a strong backlink profile.

Just ask yourself:

What if you want to get some advice regarding your health: would you go to a doctor or a random person passing on the road? Doctor – right? Why? Because you know he is the right and authentic person to get a consultation regarding health issues.

The same goes for the link building!

Google doesn’t weigh all backlinks equally.

It gives more importance to a link coming from a high authority site, let’s say the Wall Street Journal, rather than a newly created or less authority site.

According to Moz, Domain Authority is calculated by evaluating multiple factors, including linking root domains and the number of total links, into a single DA score.”

good domain authority

Besides domain authority, some other factors also play their part in making your backlink profile stronger, including:

  • Diversity in links
  • Links coming from niche-specific sites
  • A large number of links

If your link profile is qualifying all these factors, you are good to go.

Search engines take links as votes, and it is always good to have good and multiple voters in your vote bank for winning results.

  • Choose the Right Path; Tricks Don’t Work Here:

The first rule you need to learn when you enter the world of SEO is: Never try to trick search engines! Try it, and you will see the consequences – dire ones!

That’s the first rule I learned after coming into the world of SEO: Don’t mind taking the hard road. Starting might be difficult, but the end will always be in your favor.

Giving a kick to your business through guest posting is a slow process. But just remember that slow and steady wins the race, at least in the guest blogging.

Google gives importance to sites with more backlinks while determining their rankings. However, there is a right and a wrong way of earning backlinks for your site.

Don’t go for link schemes just because you are not witnessing quick results or want to skyrocket your sales.

link schemes

When I say that there is no shortcut in SEO, then I really mean it. There really is none!

  • People are Ready to Listen You:

People are fed up with being sold out!

Honestly, people don’t like it when they feel that advertisements are intriguing them to make buying decisions.

But guest blogging practices work on different grounds.

People take guest post articles more like sources of information that enhance their knowledge and help them make educated buying decisions.

According to Kelsey Libert, VP of marketing at Fractl:

Readers are necessarily less engaged with advertising vs. editorial content, and metrics show lower share rates, lower engagement rates, lower view counts, etc. in most cases”.

Having a blog or a guest post means that you are reaching out to 77% of people who are ready to read your blog and listen to what you have to say.

It also means that you can also pitch out to those 47% users who read 3-5 articles before making a sales decision.

See? Guest blogging in SEO single-handedly helps you get backlinks and projects your business without giving a feeling of advertisement.

But how did it work out for me?

What I did that the rest of my competitors were missing out?

What I did to make guests posting a booster for my clients?

Here is an insight into my secret of guest posting services.

My Secret Recipe to Turn Guest Posting into a Business Booster for My Clients

You need to handle guest post marketing smartly to lift the business of 100 agencies within four years.

What if I say that you can cook scrambled eggs by following these steps?

  1. First, put an egg on the frying pan
  2. Then sprinkle salt and pepper
  3. Switch on the stove, let the egg burn
  4. Put oil and scramble the egg

Will you accept that you can cook scrambled egg this way?

No – right?

Now see this recipe:

  1. First switch on the stove and put the frying pan on it
  2. Put oil in the frying pan, heat it up
  3. Then put egg, cook and scramble it
  4. Finally, sprinkle salt and pepper

That’s how you follow the steps to cook a dish you can call ‘scrambled eggs.’ Right?

So, if you can’t go off-way to cook scrambled eggs, how can you expect things to work out for you in guest posting work if you don’t follow the rules?

Here is my secret go-to recipe I use for every guest posting project – and it really works:

1. Manual Blogger Outreach:

Your selection of a blog can make your guest post a hit or flop. Yes, that’s how influential a blog is in your recipe for doing guest blogging work.

Don’t believe me?

Here are two images: the first one shows the result of the post published on a dead site, and the other one shows the result of the post published on a frequently updating site.

moz

You can see the difference that shows: The right Blogger outreach matters!

With that, let me tell you my blogger outreach process that helps me create the difference.

You can use multiple ways to find sites for guest blogging, pitch bloggers, but which one works the best? For me, the answer is always manual blogger outreach.

The simplest manual blogging process goes like:

manual blogging process

This process might sound quite simple, but it gets tough when you are aiming for the best.

I just don’t go and pitch every blogger I encounter.

I conduct a keyword search, visit blog inventories, and use tools, like Ahref, Semrush to filter out sites, and my main focus is:

keyword search

You can see that finding ‘the best’ blogger is not easy.

It is time-consuming work; you have to go through a strict process. But the statistics of this tough process always prove me right.

All the efforts are worth it!

2. Unique Inventory:

I believe…

“In this age of media convergence, every business deserves to become a superstar.”

No financial issue, language, or any other constraint should block the success story of any business.

That’s where the idea of building a unique inventory jumped into my scene of guest posting services.

Unfortunately, most guest blogging agencies focus on English speaking clients. I also used to do the same!

But things changed when a non-English speaker reached out to me. He wanted me to write a guest blog for his non-English readers.

Now that was quite surprising for me. I was neither having a non-English content writer nor had ever pitched a non-English blogger at that time.

I swung into action and started building relationships with non-English bloggers as well.

And…

Today, I have…

  • English as well as Non-English clients
  • Blogger sites from 100+ countries
  • Blogger sites in 200+ categories

So, you might be wondering what happened with that non-English client?

Well,

rocketing traffic

You can see rocketing traffic line in the graph.

See? Guest posting worked for him.

3.  In-House Content Writers:

We have already discussed the significance of creating engaging content for content marketing to create the magic it claims.

But that’s where 60% of marketers feel difficulty, whereas 35% find it quite challenging to produce a variety of content.

b2b content marketing

That’s why I focused on building an experienced in-house team of writers with the creative instinct to satisfy 55% of marketers prioritizing blogging in their inbound marketing.

I believe writing is not all about shoving words on paper, sticking to the grammatical rules, and following set writing patterns. You can’t come up with an engaging and diverse content until you have a creative spark.

Believe me when I say that the ability to play with words makes the difference!

Just look up these two sentences:

Content marketing is a significant digital marketing strategy.

Content marketing has dawned as a panacea for digital marketers.

It is no brainer to guess that the latter sentence is more impactful. Why?

Because…

“To create an engaging article, you not only have to take the road less traveled, you also have to grow flowers along.”

That’s what creative content writing is all about, and that’s what many writers can’t do.

This reality motivated me to build an in-house team of content writers; in other words, the backbone of my agency.

Besides creativity, some other things that we add in our content writing bucket list are:

  • Topic understanding
  • In-depth research
  • Demographic study
  • Visual appeal
  • Utilizing quality maintenance tools (Grammarly, Plagiarism-checker)
  • Proofreading

So, our content creation process goes as:

content creation process

4. Use of Visual Content:

Remember all those times when you got hooked on an article just because it was visually appealing?

You can take your own example to understand why you need visual elements in your guest posts.

Everyone feels more engaged and attracted to visually satisfying posts.

We all have heard: “A picture is worth a thousand words” – 51% of B2B marketers believe in this proverb as they are prioritizing incorporating visual content in their content marketing strategy.

Even consumers’ consumption habits have changed, and they feel more inclined towards visually appealing content.

business content

Guest blogging service is all about creating content to provide value to customers. If readers feel tilted towards visual content, your blog should have it!

I understood it!

“Images are like Ice Breakers in a content that break the boring spell of long, information loaded sentences.”

I always prefer adding images in guest blogging work for my clients, because…

  • It enhances the value of the content
  • Readers find it more engaging and interesting
  • People share it more on social media
  • More engagement means, more chances of ROI (return on investment)

Conclusion:

In this competitive market, you have to be smart. If you are not ready to rule at the top of your business, things will never work out.

If you have understood the significance of content marketing, and want to incorporate guest blogging in your strategies (which is the best thing you can do for your business!), take the right path.

Don’t be impatient; things might be slow initially. But even a single post can sky-rocket your business success: increase search rankings, enhance traffic, and boost sales.

However, that’s only possible if you stick to everything that is ‘right’ and ‘best’.

  • Create well-researched high-quality content that provides value
  • Don’t forget to conduct in-depth audience search
  • Search out high DA sites
  • Target niche-specific sites
  • Go for visual appeal

This recipe always works if you want to give your business the right magic touch through guest posting strategies!

Every website holder wants his website to be in the top results of the search engine. In this article, I will discuss press release and its effect on a website’s ranking in the search engine result page.

What is a Press Release?

The press release is a phenomenon that started in 1906 when a train wreck had to be reported by the concerned authorities.

Press releases were given to journalists so they could publish it to draw the public’s interest. Simple examples include award functions, product launches, and unfortunate incidents. The most common source of press releases are news channels and news websites.

The reason behind sending a press release to trigger news media hubs to share an event that is about to happen or has happened in a company.

Earlier press releases were officially given in hard copies and printed on the traditional papers. With time, however, things have changed and now social media sites, play a very important role in spreading information faster and to a massive audience.

Do Press Releases help SEO?

Press releases certainly help SEO.

If done right, a well-written press release can bring a lot of visitors to your website.

How Press Release Affect Website’s Ranking?

Being just one of the many factors which boost SEO, press releases do a good job for a lot of businesses. Just writing a press release is not sufficient for ranking; much has to be done to secure a top ranking position.

How Press Release Increases Your Ranking?

Here are all merits of a press release concerning a website’s ranking.

Your website Earns Backlinks

This is a top-notch benefit for a website’s ranking. If you have just initiated your website, then there’s a lot of work to be done.

Earning backlinks means that your website’s authority has increased.

One thing needs to be clarified here; earning quality backlinks is important. The quantity is one factor but the quality of backlinks is more important.

By earning backlinks, your website gets good exposure to people who haven’t ever visited it before.

Earning the goodwill of trusted websites is more pivotal as it will help your website in ranking higher in the search engine in fairly less time as compared to if your website earns backlinks from poor sites.

Here are a few hacks we use to build Google trust signals.

Brand Awareness Enhances Customer Visit

Expert

Whenever a product or a business is to be given out to the public, the ethos is to make it available for a number of people.

With the help of press release, you can easily navigate new customers on your website.

This will make your brand visible to more people and will also uplift the website for Google.

Keyword Resarch

Diverse Link Profile is Crucial

When you publish a press release, your content will get multiple links from different platforms. Depending on the number of visitors on the publishing website, the audience from their sites will visit yours.

It is recommended to also follow these tactics for internal link building for better user engagement and ranking on Google.

Global Rank

A Good Platform for a Brand

Every site that links with your website is a full-fledged platform for your business. As explained earlier a sound website is great for your business. Every backlink that you earn on your press release will bring more visitors to your website.

If even one of the visitors turns out to be a corporate client, then your business can profit well.

graph

Relevant Traffic

Earning traffic on a website is very valuable for any website holder. Having relevant traffic means that Google will very likely position the site in the top search results.

People visit to find some information. If a visitor doesn’t find relevant information, then they will immediately go back, thus causing the bounce rate to increase.

If your website has relevant content and meets the needs of the visitors, then they will spend more time on it. Increasing time spent on a website is a very good factor for Google. Your website will very likely be ranking in the top positions because of this.

Visitors will Convert

Many websites have different buttons which require some information about the visitor.

The mechanism is very simple, once a person visits a website, they become a visitor, but when they give some information in the form of email ID or by registering for the weekly newsletter then, they convert.

A website’s engagement rate is yet another major factor which Google takes into account when ranking websites. Moreover, if your press release compels the prospective customer to purchase through the website, then you’ve won!

Jamie Pitman

Earned Customer Value

When a press release is posted over the web, the results depend on how customers welcome that content. In case the customers like the press release, then they will likely be sharing the content over social media.

Although there is no direct link between social media and Google ranking, but plenty of evidence suggest Google prefers content that is shared over social media. Thus, social signals do help along with press release in getting higher ranks for a website.

Instagram Post

Press Release for Local SEO

Through this technique, you can market your business for a local audience. For instance, if you want to market a product to an audience that is nearby or within the city, then press release in a local channel would be a great way to grab attention.

When you write a press release for local SEO then keep in mind that the focus should be on the laymen who will read it.

Good Impression of the Website

If you have worked on all the factors mentioned above, then you will easily build a good impression of the website for search engine.

Google will consider your business a brand when multiple news sites will link to your website – though it takes time for a website to make it to the big list.

A backlink from huge websites with 80+ DA will be strong a vote of confidence. Here you can read the complete guide on how you can get a backlink from Forbes.

How to Write a Perfect Press Release?

Let’s quickly go through how to write a good press release.

URL's

The links will look something like this. You can download the full sheet and search the DA of each website.

Small SEO Tools’ domain authority checker lets users find DA of 50 websites in a single go. This is a pretty slick application for anyone finding high DA websites and doesn’t have time to repeat things.

So, once you have the list of website, what’s next?

  • Check out the criteria that we provided above and see if you find any websites that fit in that criteria.
  • Now start pitching these websites with quality guest post ideas

Find Guest Posts through Social Blogging Websites

Another great way to find websites for guest posting is through social blogging websites like Alltop, Blogarama, and Technorati. These are top blog directories and you can easily find websites that approve guest posts.

Here is how to find them:

Blog Directory

Most of these are blogs that accept guest posts. You can simply pitch them about your guest post idea and wait for the response.

Finding Guest Posts through Comments

Another way to find guest posts is through comments. This may not work on all blogs since comments now don’t allow people to add their website address. But you can also search for them through Disqus comment channel.

  • First, you have to write a guest post on a website and wait for other people to comment
  • Make sure the post is controversial so people can take a side.
  • When people comment, simply search their profile and you will see the website they write content for.
  • Now thank them for the comment and pitch them if they would like to accept a guest post on a similar topic on their website?
Guest Positng

Facebook Groups

There are many Facebook groups available on guest posting. If you don’t know how to find them, simply search for them by typing ‘guest posts’ in Facebook search. Join them.

Now here is how to find the websites for guest posting.

  • Clearly write the type of guest posting websites that you want
  • For example, ‘Looking for US based guest posting sites related to health niche’
  • You will get many websites from users. If you have a budget, you can also get paid guest posting opportunities from users. Paid guest posts are usually for high DA websites that also get traffic relevant to your niche

You can search for similar guest posting opportunities on other social media websites as well.

Freelancing Websites for Guest Posts

A recent case study by one SEO expert suggests that people can also get backlinks from users on Fiverr. Most people believe that Fiverr is not an authoritative source for getting backlinks. Therefore, they should avoid it at all cost. But this is wrong.

See this guy. He says that he was able to get traffic to his website by spending $500 on Fiverr. You can watch the full video of how he did it.

A short summary is that he was able to rank 3rd for a highly competitive keyword ‘New York SEO’ in the USA by creating a few news article links and tons of web 2.0 links.

SEO Services New York

While writing of this post, two weeks have passed and he is still in third place for that keyword. We can only see when his rankings will decline.

But, what does it teach us? You can also create backlinks from Fiverr guest posts.

So how to do that?! Find quality guest posting opportunities on Fiverr.

  • Search Fiverr for ‘guest posts’ and see what comes up
  • Select one that you think looks suitable – Make sure to check its rankings and reach buyer’s review
Websites
  • Message them to check where they will post your article. What is the DA of that website? And, how much traffic does it get?
  • Once you are satisfied, order him to complete the task

Writing on Trending Topics

One way to get sure approval when you submit a guest post is by writing on trending topics. Let’s say your niche is digital marketing. Search about what is the top trend in your industry. It can be anything like Instagram marketing, video marketing, anything that you can think of. Now, pitch the websites about topics related to these trends for guest blogging opportunities. They will instantly approve them because they are getting content on topics that aren’t available anywhere else.

This is called exclusivity.

Rankings

One keyword that is trending during the holiday season.

In fact, you can form relationships with these blogs by becoming their VIP contributor.

  • Simply provide them with weekly content on any topic of your choice
  • Insert your own blog’s backlinks in between content that you write
  • Get a constant stream of traffic back to your blog

Make Epic Pitches

One way to get approval for guest post pitches is by writing high quality guest posts. Just remember that guest posting websites get a lot of requests and they simply ignore them. Why? Because they are providing no real value. That’s where your pitches can make a difference.

How to write epic pitches that will let them approve your request?

  • Research the website and hunt for topics that you can write on for guest blogging opportunities
  • Be courteous and provide value to the readers of that website

For example, I was to guest post on a website that makes video animations. It had written on almost all topics related to advertising videos such as Youtube for monetization, Pinterest marketing, Instagram and IGTV video marketing.

I searched its website to find some loophole. Something that I can write on. Finally, I found it. The topic was ‘affiliate marketing videos.’

Many people are now making affiliate marketing videos. These are unboxing videos, video reviews, and sometimes simple videos of products just copy pasted on their channels and pages. But these work.

I pitched it three topics related to these. Here is the format.

Subj: You are missing AFFILIATE MARKETING FOR VIDEOS topic – It Can Bring MORE TRAFFIC!

Hi AUTHOR NAME,

I am a keen reader of your blog. And, I love to create and test video ads for my dropshipping stores and affiliate websites. I found a gap in your blog and that relates to affiliate marketing videos. Most readers today want to learn how they can start affiliate marketing. You have not covered that topic.

What if I can write on it as I already have an expertise in that particular niche?

Here are a few topics that I have in mind:

  • Affiliate Marketing Videos to get More Sales
  • Dropshipping Video Ads – Why they work? How to Make them better?
  • Double Your Print On Demand Store Sales with Videos

Let me know which one looks better to you.

Cheers

XXX

Guess what? In two days, I had a reply from the blog owner. She liked the affiliate marketing video topic.

So, what is the lesson here?

  • Create value for the blog owner
  • Find a gap in his content strategy
  • Clearly explain the topics that you want to write on

Read Guest post guidelines

Most people often complain that their guest post pitches are not answered. There can be many reasons for this but one of the most popular ones is guest posting guidelines. These people simply don’t read the guest posting guidelines and the editors reject their requests.

It is essential to read the guidelines of a website properly because only then you can send them what they need. Think of this as a job interview. Surely you would not want to go for a job interview with your intermediate mark sheet. Instead, what you need is a resume. That’s the same thing with guest post guidelines. They help you understand what the websites are actually looking for.

This is a standard set of guidelines by Search Engine Land website. See how they clearly explain what type of topics they want the contributors to write on? You can only pitch them topics that relate to these categories.

Monitor Traffic

Once you have written guest posts on around a dozen websites, it is time to monitor traffic coming from these guest posts. This will help you create a strategy for the future. Let’s see one guest post is bringing 75% of the whole referral traffic. Think about it. Why is it happening? What was the topic about? Why are people interested in this topic?

When you know the answers to these questions, simply create a collaboration plan with the site owner. By this time the guest posting website owner would also have observed that your guest post is driving more traffic.

Here are a few guest blogging guidelines you should follow to amplify the traffic growth. Let’s see what these guest blogging opportunities are:

  • Ask the site owner for regular contributions
  • Add a lead generation hook in the article
  • Make a redo of the same article and optimize it for keywords

Ranking through Guest Posts

One clever technique to improve search rankings is by ranking through guest posting. This is an open secret and even Google allows it. So, what is this secret and how can your business benefit from it? Let’s find out.

Say your website has a DA of around 20 something. You can’t rank for a high difficulty keyword of 50+. No matter how many social signals you get, you will have a hard time getting in the top of the SERPs. But there is an easy way to do it. Simply write a guest post on the keyword that you want to rank on.

How?

The website that you will be writing on should have a high DA and should receive more traffic. When you write a topic on it, it has more potential to rank on that keyword than your own website. Make sure that you link back to your website from the first few paragraphs so to pass maximum link juice.

Anatomy of a Guest Post

While guest posts are no different than the regular articles you publish on your blog but you need to strategically place your link in them to get the most value.

Length

The average length of each guest post should be around 1200 or more. Guest post length is usually provided in the guest posting guidelines by the website where you want to write the content piece.

However, with that said, it is a good practice to write a long-form content piece so that your guest post can rank higher and you cover the whole topic.

Here is a recent study by Buzzsumo showing the average length of each content piece ranking online in searches.

So, go for 1000-2000 words for starters.

Contextual Links

Place a link in the first few paragraphs of the content because just like before, links higher in the content are given more weightage by Google.

Even Backlinko recommends putting a link in the first few paragraphs to get the most link juice.

Outbound Links

And,

Instead of dropping the keyword alone, you need to link that keyword to your own blog or website to get the most value from the guest post.

Lead Hook

Add a lead hook that can bring readers of the guest post back to your blog. Why is it necessary? Because guest posts can be a great way to get subscribers for almost free. Here is how:

Now that you have this strategy in place, you only need to create a special landing page for guest post visitors. Once that is ready, you can get their email addresses by providing them a little more value.

Brian Dean has cleverly done this with a remarkable landing page.

Author Bio

It is a good practice to add the link of your homepage in the author box section. But for each website, you should create a custom author box message that matches with the content that you are posting.

Yehuda Hassine

See how Yehuda has shown he is an expert in his field?

Here is another one:

John Hughes

See what Hughes is missing? He could have used the space to market his company in a better way. Don’t miss this out.

Consider the author box an essential marketing banner for your website.

Not many people may read it, but those who will be interested in your website will surely read it. This is your place to shine.

Guest Posting Future

Future of Submitting Blog Posts for Guest Posting

Now that 2018 is passing, most people are concerned about the future of guest posting. Rest assured, it isn’t going to change much. Why? Because if you are doing everything white hat, building links through connections, partnerships, and networking, you have already embraced the future. Here is what you should be focusing on for getting more organic traffic through guest postings in near-future.

Focus on Connections and Networking

We would recommend you to start building connections with companies that complement your products. Work with them for partnerships and promoting your brands through guest posts, giveaways, podcasts, webinars, and mutual marketing activities. Because in near-future, they will become your indirect assets.

Guest Posting

Quality will win over quantity. One backlink from a reputed website is much better than 100 backlinks from small domains.

  • Regular Contributions are a must

Make yourself an authority in your domain. That’s the only way to open up more guest posting opportunities and win in SERPs. In near-future, Google will give more weight to authors who are a regular contributor in a niche, because they know their subject. They will easily win over people who are new to the field.

This will also shut down ghost blogging for good.

  • Community Managers are the New Brand Managers

The new online marketers are not content marketers or SEO specialists, but community managers. Those who can engage, retain, and convert potential customers. They will become the face of their respective companies.

See how Joshua Hardwick has become the face of Ahref. Similarly, Rand Fishkin is the face of Moz (even after leaving it). Why? Because people believe them!

Paid Guest Posting

Paid guest posts 2019 – Do they work?

Yes, they are here to stay. We may be stretching this, but Google has no way of distinguishing paid and free guest posts. They are going to exist for a long time. Why? Because just like advertisements in the real world, paid guest posts are just one way of advertising.

The way people exchange paid guest posts may change. Just like advertorials are provided a separate section, but they will still contribute to link juice.

Purch, the owner of Tomshardware, offer one paid post for $5,000. It doesn’t allow a link in the post but that is enough because the website is visited by millions of people in a day.

Purch

FAQs

How many Guest Posts do I need to rank higher?

It depends on many factors, especially the content on your website, the keywords you are targeting, and the DA of the website where you are posting the content. As an estimate, you need to guest blog consistently i.e. 3-4 guest posts each month to see some movement in rankings. They usually take 1-2 months to rank higher.

How many Guest Posts a month should I publish?

As said earlier, you should continuously build connections with websites where you can submit a guest post. On an average, start with 3-4 guest posts per month and then stretch it to 7-10 guest posts per month.

We know the two categories of SEO.

  • On-page SEO
  • Off-Page SEO

Off page is basically link building. We use it to increase the authority of a page.

The real SEO, however, is done On Page.

We even perform Off-Page SEO to promote our on-page work.

On-Page SEO allows us to create content that Google will love.

If Google loves the content, it will rank it higher in SERP.

To help you understand better here’s On-Page SEO definition for you

On-Page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual page of a website according to the requirements of search engines so it will rank higher and get more traffic.

In this article, you will learn how to do On-Page SEO. These practices fulfill every On-Page requirement that you need to rank top in 2019.

On-Page SEO Techniques for 2019

There were simpler times when you only needed to know the keywords for On-Page SEO.

Bloggers would just use just an appropriate amount of keyword density, and that was all to it.

Now, it’s 2019!

The world has evolved, and Google is always one step ahead.

Hummingbird search algorithm has been there for years. Later, it added a team member named RankBrain that was announced on October 26, 2015.

RankBrain is an algorithm that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to crawl all indexed pages and determine the best results for every keyword.

Just keywords and backlinks can’t fool this system.

Google now understands your content and also monitors how a user interacts with it.

So, you don’t have to create content just for a computer program. That program now also uses human behavior for better understanding.

Here I have shared a complete SEO checklist 2019 to satisfy all ranking factors and get a higher ranking.

Write long content

1. Write Long Content

Google wants well-searched in-depth content.

Why in-depth content?

Because it will have an answer to every question of the visitor on that topic. You can’t cover all such queries in just 500 words. To follow the On-Page SEO checklist, you need to write long and original content. Google requires you to write a minimum of 300 words. According to Brian Dean’s research, the top 10 Google results had an average count of 1,890 words.

Contwnt Writing

If you want to be an influencer in your niche, you will have to start somewhere. And, guest posts help you do that. You don’t need to be a professor or years of experience in the field. You just need to be aware of what is going on in your field and have an opinion about it.

Improve Brand Awareness

One reason many people submit a guest post is to improve brand awareness. For example, we gave an example in which the owner of Empire Flippers wrote a guest post on Ahref website. The reason he did that was not to increase rankings in search but to build awareness about his company. By reading about what he has written more people will know what his brand is all about.

Get Feedback from Community

Guest bloggers cannot write all the time and that’s why it is important to guest post on popular websites. Other bloggers will be able to comment and share their opinion about the post. In most cases, you as a writer will be able to engage with them and build solid connections. You may also get great ideas about your next guest post – one never knows.

How to do Guest Posting in SEO – Latest Tips & Techniques

There are many ways to find guest posting opportunities. Some work, some don’t. Here is a compilation of guest posting opportunities that have always shown results. Let’s read these guest blogging guidelines.

Google for Keywords

Simply search for guest posting opportunities on Google. First of all, enter Google ‘Country’ and then open it. You don’t want to find US based websites while searching on Google.com.in.

Here is a list you can try to search for guest posting opportunities in your domain – courtesy of Backlinko guest posting guide.

Keyword Resarch

You will find multiple blogs for guest posting this way. Make sure you only pitch those that have a high domain authority. The reputed agencies put their effort into targeting high domain authority sites while providing guest posting services to their clients because they know that this is the only thing you need to get ranked rapidly.

Criteria for finding high quality domains:

  • Check Alexa for website ranking before you submit a guest post. If the website has less than 500,000 rank, it is a pretty good website. Now, search for its local rank. For example, if you are looking for US based websites only, then make sure they have a rank in the US. Like this one in the image.

  • Search traffic from Similar Web. This website only tells about an estimate of the traffic a website receives per month.

Another great way to find guest posts relevant to your niche is by reverse image search. Let’s say your competitor has written a guest post on a website. So, how can you find where he is building backlinks for his brand? It is pretty simple. You just need to do a reverse image search.

Here is how you can do that.

Search the image of your competitor in Google.

Jamie Pitman

Here is one from Search Engine Land. I did a reverse image search for the image of this author on Google and here are the results

These are all the results where Jamie Pitman has written articles. This way I can find even more competitors and sites where they have posted content.

You might ask, ‘so what? How do I build backlinks?’

The answer is simple. You pitch these websites with an irresistible topic so they can’t say no. The article should be well researched – we will come to this part later.

You may get rejected from some websites but don’t lose hope. Just remember the criteria that I have provided above and keep pitching various websites for guest posting. The other way to

Paid guest posts 2020 – Do they work?

Yes, they are here to stay. We may be stretching this, but Google has no way of distinguishing paid and free guest posts. They are going to exist for a long time. Why? Because just like advertisements in the real world, paid guest posts are just one way of advertising.

The way people exchange paid guest posts may change. Just like advertorials are provided a separate section, but they will still contribute to link juice.

Purch, the owner of Tomshardware, offer one paid post for $5,000. It doesn’t allow a link in the post but that is enough because the website is visited by millions of people in a day.

In the past, link building was based on quantity, not quality.

However, tables have been turned over this concept in the past few years.

Link building has become a different ball game.

If you’re working on link building strategies for your business, you have to understand that you can’t create incoming links instantly. Slow and steady wins the race.

The pages where you build links – specifically the authority and quality of those pages – make all the difference in determining how high you’ll rank in search engine results.

Here are a few links building strategies that wont get you penalized.

Search engiine journal

Broken Link Building

Most websites are linked intensive, I am talking hundreds, sometimes thousands. Some link externally, some externally. Sometimes, these links can stop working, yet still, show up on the website. Most website owners fail to realize when it happens, wreaking havoc on their SEO, reputation, and experience. In fact, before you read further, why don’t you pop on to Ahrefs, and check if you have any broken links, perhaps some from an old a/b testing experiment where you failed to redirect the test page?

Discovering broken links gives you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to nurture lasting relationships with website owners, get high-quality links, and add value to their website. Which is why, I love this form of link building. Not to forget, Nikolay Stoyanov used to leverage Broken link building to acquire 15 links a day with a whopping conversion rate of 15%. I would venture as far as to say that it is one of the most underrated link building strategies of all times, one that should merit more recognition. Let me delineate the straight-forward process of finding and fixing broken links.

Define a Target Website

Start by singling out a prospective website that you want to get a link from. While you can get as fancy as you want, say The New York times or Inc, it is prudent to stay realistic about your expectations. Your chances of getting a link is fattest from small companies and personal blogs. Managers and owners of those will likely thank you for your troubles by gifting you with a quality link.

Finding the Broken Links

Once you have chosen your battlefields (websites you want to get a link from), it is time to arm yourself with the right tools and start searching for the broken links. Ahrefs and Check My Links are two of my personal favorites. While most of you must be acquainted with Ahrefs, Check My Links is also an invaluable Chrome Extension that allows you to look for defected links within a specified page. This tool works best when you have a page with a lot of links, such as a resource page or an article listing recommendations. For instance, say that you sold cooking tools. Kitchenstewardship features all the tools that they recommend. Now if you were to check for broken links within, you would click on Check My Links extension and let it scrutinize the entire page!

Expert

Any broken links that you come across present a huge window of opportunity for you to pitch to the site that linked to a broken link, to get a link from them in turn.

Once you have a viable list, export it and save to a separate Excel sheet.

Once this step has been done and dusted with, navigate to the left-side menu and click on Outgoing links > Broken links. This churns out all the defected outbound links from the site under scrutiny. Let the website owners know about this list of links. Also let them know if the page they linked to still exists.

Here is where you can play your card.

To replace a broken link, recommend a similar page on your site that can fill its shoes. Now export this list as well like the last time and get right into finding all the internal broken links. For this, click on “pages” in the search bar menu and choose Best by Links. Once you have reached there, choose the third button from the left and navigate to “404 not found”.

This will give you the list of all the internal broken links, organized by their URL rating. This narrows down to the fact that the higher a page ranks on the page, the more link authority is associated with it. In a nut shell, enjoy an important link boost of a top page (one that seems way out of your league) gives you a link.

Export this list of links as well and repeat this process for every website that is on your list.

Contacting the Blog Manager

After you have analyzed all the pages and sites, it is high time to let the blog manager or owner know about the broken link. Instead of simply sending them a message you should try to cultivate a relationship with them and build trust. If some page of your website is relevant to the one where the broken link was found, better let them in on it. Don’t make it obvious that you are going to all the painstaking efforts just to get a link. Do it to help them have a great page for their readers. Even if your website doesn’t have anything relevant to offer, you can still focus on fixing the broken link at hand at the moment and perhaps avail some other opportunity to ask them for a link.

Testimonial Link Building

Doesn’t this link building method seem too easy? Well… that’s probably because it is! In just a few minutes, you can create potent homepage links to your website. If you are using some products and services, you can reach out and offer positive testimonials for them and have them published with a link back to your website. This is how it works.

Step 1. List down your Targets

First things first; you need to find the websites for products and services that you want to write testimonials for. Make sure that each site offers products or services that you use, has existing testimonials, and is relevant to your niche.  So, a great place to start is to pen down all the services, products, tools that your business is using. This could be something along the lines of:

  • Any services/tools that you use
  • Some training course that you took
  • Your action camera
  • Some horse saddle you found handy

Well, if you are finding it a tough nut to crack to come up with ideas, why not look up what services and tools others in your industry are employing. Your search would spawn something like this:

Even better, you can avail a free trial associated with the tool to test the waters a bit. Or perhaps you could search for relevant people in your industry who have recently launched services/tools/products that could be of some use to you. If they are about to launch, your testimonials could really give them wings and the gesture would be reciprocated in kind. These people usually hang out on sites like BetaListHackersNews, and ProductHunt, Facebook Groups, or niche related forums. Use a spreadsheet to collect all your targets.

Step 2.  Find the Right Person To Pitch

The next step is to find the right person to pitch to. While some websites have dedicated testimonial submission forms, you can also use the contact form on the website, and someone will get in touch. However, if we are talking bulk testimonials, perhaps a tool like NinjaOutreach can be of more use to you. Simply take out a website from the excel sheet and the tool will dig up the contact details. Easy breezy.

Or perhaps, a handy extension such as Hunter or Find That Lead can help you unearth email addresses. Not only content with email addresses, these tools will also pull out the role of the person behind the emails, so that you will in a better position to decide if you are pitching to the right person. Add all email addresses to your spreadsheet and start contacting everyone on your list with a compelling pitch.

Step 3. Send Your Testimonial Pitch

Before you start crafting a testimonial, why not sell them on the idea that they would benefit from your testimonial?

When putting together your pitch, remember to introduce yourself, mention their products or services which you have used and explain how they addressed your pain point, and how they helped you overcome a dilemma including specific results. Ask for their permission to write a testimonial for them. Keep the pitch simple, polite, and to the point.

To get them to listen, you could perhaps mention a competitor brand and how their services weren’t meeting your needs, but how they came to the rescue and helped you transform processes. Tell them how you really want to write a testimonial praising their services, and if they would be interested in that.

Step 4. Penning down The Perfect Testimonial

Crafting a perfect testimonial is the easiest part; no frills attached. Ideally, you want a short piece of text incorporating:

  • What did you like the most about their services?
  • How a particular service/product helped you?
  • Result achieved (in numbers to be exact)
  • Your personal recommendation to others.

In a nutshell, craft such a compelling testimonial that they would be foolish not to publish. However, make sure that you are not falsely endorsing a less than stellar service/product, especially when you are attaching your name to the recommendation.

Blog commenting

In the cut-throat battle for backlinks, blog commenting has proven to be a reliable brother-in-arms for years on end. In adition to improving your company’s visibiltiy and raising authority, it also acts as a traffic and links magnet.

When done the right way, blog commenting can do wonders for your blog. To begin, you need to look for highly relevant websites which have enabled commenting. Now, you must be fretting over all the painstaking efforts you will have to go through to look for those websites, but you can simply use LinkAssistant to replace them. This is how it’s done:

  • Fire up the app and create a new project for your site.
  • Choose “Look for prospects” and specify “Commenting” as the preferred research method.
  • Decide on your keywords from any of these two options: You can choose “related topics” and “category” types of keywords when searching for thematically relevant websites. On the other hand, when you are searching up exact match blog posts or articles, the topic of the article would determine your keyword choice. Enable expert options if you are going for this option.
  • Next up, you need to assign tags and status to help you facilitate prospect management workflow. Sort your partners by tags or by groups in accordance with their status. Hitting “get exact URLs” helps the tool dig up URLs of individual pages and filter out domain URLs. Since you won’t need to contact webmasters via email, you can make the who search process faster by unchecking Automatically acquire title and description.
  • Now it’s time to configure additional information and choose which information you would like to acquire for your link prospects. You can gauge the relevance of your prospects with this extra information. Once you procure a link of blog commenting opportunities, you can start commenting.

Resource Page Link Building

Most website have a resource page listing all the different articles, guides, or tools that they have found useful or of use. These pages boil down to a list of links with some descriptions. It’s a pretty straight-forward concept: Look out for the resource pages relevant to your business and ask them to provide you with a link.

How To Find Resource Pages?

There’s no single way to do this. However, if it is your first time doing this, here are a few ways you can try:

  • Google Search

Search up terms such as Keyword +useful links, Keyword +inurl:useful links, Keyword +helpful resources, Keyword +useful resources, or Keyword +inurl:links. For instance, a search to build links to a meditation blog would appear something like:

Feel free to peruse through the results and have your pick. Better yet, add all pertinent links to a spreadsheet for the next step. On the other hand, if you want to take an easy route, here’s another option:

  • Ninja Outreach

NinjaOutreach is another wonderful way to look for resource pages in your niche. Fire up the tool and type in your keyword in the search bar. The results can be filtered by “Resource Page”. The tool will instantly give out the list of relevant resource pages. In a matter of few steps, you can find their contact details and pitch to them.

Pitching Your Content

If you want your content to be added to the resource page, once you have gotten through the initial steps, it is time to reach out to the website and pitch them your content. The right strategy is to send the first outreach email and then pivot to the link placement. In the outreach email, you can thank them for their delightfully resourceful listicle, and once they reply back, ask for a link placement.

Expired Domains

Using expired domains has been one of my favorite ways of link building. This is because you are likely to come across expired domains which are highly relevant to your niche, have high levels of authority, promise great backlink profiles or have valuable backlinks from high DA websites. This is why you should be harnessing their prowess for link building. And depending on how smartly you play your cards, you can get a super wonderful deal and buy an expired domain at the price of a new domain. When you buy an expired domain, you can:

  • Redirect the expired domain to direct links to your site
  • Capitalize on expired domains to link to your site
  • Launch a new site on the expired domain and get high authority

This is why expired domains are so famous. When you build a site in a relevant expired domain having a high DA, you will get a head-start with an amazing link profile. Not only that, you will be in full control of anchor text, link placement, relevance, and content.

If you are smart about it, you have your very own army of dedicated high DA websites, all laser focused on linking back to you. But here’s the catch: The success of this strategy lies in your ability to discover high DA expiring domains in the first place, which are relevant to your niche! Once you have hit upon the gold mine, there are a million ways, you can harness them to your advantage!

Finding expired domains doesn’t have to be a tough nut to crack, depending on how you go about it. Perhaps, you can use a tool like DomainHunterGatherer to find expired domains and gather key metrics. Once you have found an expired domain, you can build a high authority site on It or build powerful backlinks.

Replicate Best Links From Competitors

Regardless of where your competitors earned their links, you task is to replicate their link building strategy. During the process, be wary of links that would land you in hot waters. For instance, instead of paid links, you might want to go for those that come from social engagement and high-value content. Since 76% of marketers capitalize on social media to boost and support SEO, you have to embrace social media as well if you wish to connect with influential marketing experts and blogs.

Coming back to replicating the success of competitors in your own link building strategy. The best part is that thanks to the advent of a large number of resources and tools available, your competitors cannot hide their best links from you. Once you find these links, time to harness their power. So how do you know which are their best links? Well perhaps the strongest metrics for judging the viability of a link are the page authority and domain authority of a link website.

For instance, if you want to get your resource mentioned on a famous site such as smashing magazine, here is how you would go about it:

  • Create a high-quality and relevant resource page: Before you email the editor, you can boost your chances of getting a yes by making sure that your content is relevant to the topic, be it an article, a podcast, an infographic, or a video.
  • Contact the editor: Most high authority sites operate their blogs through a team of editors. Contact the editor to make sure that your resource content can be published. You can build a better relationship with the editors via email outreach.

In my years in the industry, I have learnt one thing; if your content is helpful and unique, most influential site owners, blogs and editors would love to publish it and give you a link. So, in a nutshell, focus on penning down stellar content! Afterall, content is the key.

If lead generation is the engine behind your business, think of content marketing as the fuel that powers that engine. Content marketing has opened myriad doors to implementing lead generation strategies, converting leads into happy, returning customers. While content marketing has often been linked to lead generation, most people are still oblivious to clever and simply genius hacks that will generate leads in mind-boggling numbers. Hotmail was one pf the first to contrive a growth hack in the early 90’s. In order to boost growth, their team decided to spread love by adding “PS I love you” at the bottom of every email. Since the text was linking back to their homepage, this seemingly innocuous nugget of content alone brought in over 12 million email accounts! You may be no Hotmail, but here are 17 downright genius traffic boosting growth hacks that can skyrocket your search traffic and act as a client magnet for your online business:

Capitalize on Emotions in Headlines

To reel in your readers, you need to create magnetic headlines to get them hooked to your content. The secret is to tap in their emotions to supercharge your content. Not only will people be willing to peruse through a content piece that “gets them” and resonates with them, they will be tempted to share it on social media as well. For instance, if you put yourself in the shoes of your customers, what would you search for on Google if you are looking for ways to shed a few pounds? Perhaps something like:

  • “Drop 10 pounds in a month”
  • “Fastest way to get rid of belly fat”
  • “Lose 20 pounds fast”

Not to overwhelm you, but there could be countless variations to just the search terms above. So as an individual desperate to trim the potbelly and get your life back on track, you will be quick to respond positively to an article targeting any of these keywords. This is because they mirror what is in your heart. If your headlines target the keywords they are looking for, you can be sure that those keywords will eventually convert into clicks, visits and sales when you rank on google. So, lets assume you are looking to create powerful headlines for a content piece that targets revenue generation, here are some of the emotional keywords you can target:

  • “How to increase sales”
  • “How to generate revenue”
  • “how to generate revenue from website”
  • “Revenue Generating ideas”

These are called emotional keywords since people searching for them are already looking for ways to increase revenue. They don’t want to be sold on the idea of revenue generation, they just want a nudge to act. In addition, when crafting high-converting deadlines, it would do you good to increase, especially odd numbers. Buzzsumo found these headliners openers most effective:

Top pharses starting headlines

Create A Content Calendar

Strategic success drives in great parts from creating a content calendar. It is a shareable resource that brings everyone on your content team on the same page and can be used for content marketing planning. Here is a great explanation of content calendar by convinceandconvert:

Content calendar

It is prudent to get one planned out at the beginning of the year, to provide a visual display of what, how, and where your content will be published. This will support your marketing goals by helping you guarantee a consistent flow of content.

Create Proper Strategies for When and What to Share

It is possible to identify the best times to share on social media. Depending on the lifestyles and businesses of your followers, some time slots may prove to be best for better interaction, so it is better to take a sneak-peak inside the lives of your followers. According to the research, the following are the times and days that work best:

Facebook

  • The best time to achieve maximum involvement after a workday is 7 PM.
  • If the goal is to garner more comments on your posts, the best time to share things is on Saturdays.
  • The best time to post a featured story is between 11 AM and 4 PM.
  • The best time to share anything is 1 PM.

Twitter

  • The best days to get the most numbers of clicks and involvement are Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
  • The best time for getting a high CTR is between 12 PM-6 PM during word days.
  • The best time to receive more retweets is 5 PM.

Google+

  • Posts achieve the highest engagement at 9 AM on Wednesday
  • For weekdays, it is best to post between 9 AM and 11 AM.

Not only should you promote your posts on the above-mentioned schedules, you can also add social shares on older pieces of content to boost traffic to your website.

Segment Your Audience

One of my favorite frugal blogs, Miss Thrifty is targeting young mums with treasure trove of wisdom on living a frugal life and rightly so! The blog is targeting a huge market by fulfilling their need for this type of information. Young mums are often pressed for money and may have to give up working to care for their little ones. With just one wage flowing in the house, the need to be more frugal with everyday living is a must.

This blog embodies the concept of catering to a “segmented audience”; in this case: young UK mums!

It often helps to learn about your potential and current audience to determine the type of content you should produce. Audience segmentation is the perfect way to get to grips with myriad characteristics and customer personas, who they are, how to reach out to them, and how they are different. Once you have segmented your current audience, it will also help you discover and connect with new target audiences.

Target Audience

A great place to start is to analyze demographics. Group your audience members by family size, income, geographical location, gender, age, race, and other factors. For this, you will need to dive into data and insights that indicate preferences and behaviors. You can create data-driven personas with the help of these indicators, which will help you create more relevant content to your audien

Create Evergreen Content

Segmenting your audience will better equip you to craft tailored content that resonates with each segment group as effectively as possible. Try perusing through pertinent social media groups, forums, industry and competitor blogs to see what potential customers are looking for and what type of content they are talking about, sharing with others, and spending most time with.

This is where audience segmentation comes into play. For instance, if you want to channel more new users on your website, your content should be focused on establishing your brand as a trustworthy industry expert (think e-books, whitepapers, and how-to-guides), and building brand awareness. For current customers, your focus should be to expand their affinity and relationships with the brand, perhaps through comprehensive guides, specialized discounts, or webinars. Furthermore, you can create separate landing pages for each of your targeted segmented audience, replete with relevant content.

Diversify Your Reach

In my experience, the way forward is to follow a diversified approach to content distribution. Content Marketing Institute has reported that B2B marketers use on an average 13 different content marketing tactics. You are severely stifling the potential impact of your content in this digital era if you are only creating one kind of content, such as a blog or podcast, and promoting it through only a single channel.

Leveraging the right channel will direct qualified leads towards your diversified content. While YouTube is popular video-driven content, such as inspirational stories, reviews, and tutorials, while Facebook is well-known social media channel. For B2B interactions, Twitter and LinkedIn are more appropriate, while Snapchat and Instagram are better for reaching millennials. Finding a social media platform that is a great fit for your particular needs will aid you in garnering more traffic with your content.

Get to Grips with LinkedIn Pulse

If you want to share your content with people in your industry, LinkedIn Pulse is your go-to tool. As soon as your content is published, you open up doors for a wider target audience to enter. With LinkedIn Pulse at your disposal, you can customize the reading experience for every-day personalized content. Not only do the published posts serve to boost brand awareness, they also reel in your users. The secret of the trade is to keep your articles short for LinkedIn Pulse, since they get the job done better than long posts.

However, care must be exercised when crafting a snippet of the original article for linking to the site, since it can create a duplicate-content issue if the content is not properly rewritten. Your connected people and LinkedIn followers receive notifications about your post as soon as it is published. If they find the snippet to be captivating, they are more likely to click on it to read more. This is how they eventually end up on your blog!

Start a Group Discussion

Both LinkedIn and Facebook groups are great places to fuel a discussion or interact with people by sharing, liking, or commenting on their work. With such a vast number of groups available on LinkedIn and Facebook, you will inevitably find a question relevant to your niche and target audience. If your end goal is to increase engagement, the secret is in the way you share your views or how you make yourself heard. With so many active participants, it won’t be hard for you to reach your target audience. Not only can you encourage your audience and industry relevant influencers to share your content, you can also create engagement with them. If your updates are riveting enough to hook them in, they will be more apt to visit your blog to read more. This boosts traffic to your blog by building a great impression of your brand across the platform.

By participating in a group, you encourage your audience to share your content as well as easily create engagement with them. If people like your interesting updates, they will surely click on them or visit your blog to hear more. As a result, you build a great impression of your brand across the platform, which will help you increase traffic to your blog.

Reddit

If you are living in a hermit den and oblivious to this amazing way of attracting traffic and sharing worthy content, let me confide in you. However, if you try to spam it, prepare to get a lot of heat from Redittors. Solely based on user-generated content, Reddit is one of the best social media platforms for content marketers. If you want your content to share the maximum engagement rates, you need to share worthy content. Here is how you can make the most of this content distribution platform.

  • Reddit is brimming with subreddits, so you need to sort through the pile and select the best ones for your niche.
  • Redditors don’t respond well to people who seem overly promotional.
  • Instead of focusing on yourself, engage with others in the community by downvoting, upvoting, or commenting.
  • Try your hands at different subreddits pertinent to your niche and see which ones work to your benefit. List down all the ones that fared well with you.
  • Here’s something to turn your smile into a frown. Reddit can block your functionalities unlike other social media platforms, if you are found sharing the same link in multiple subreddits.
  • Once you have gotten the gist of Reddit, its time to get your hands wet in it and start sharing your links. Remember that you will get negative as well as positive comments, so don’t lose heart and reply to all of them.

Know Your Audience, and Give Them What They Want

Before you start creating compelling, engaging, and successful content, you need to know your audience in and out. Keyword research can greatly help you in this regard, by focusing on what your target audience is looking for. You can leverage Google Trends to garner an idea of the market demand of your topic. Simply typing your target keyword into the search box will reveal how hot the topic is and how much engagement it has received over a specified period of time. You will be empowered to base your content creation on your readers when you know them better. The more user-centric your content is, the more effective your content marketing strategy.

Get on the Local Platform

How serious are you about local placement? Content marketing isn’t just to tap into an international audience; it also means to reel in customers and local clients as well. Bright Local has published statistics which testify that 97% of consumers use online search for local services and products. To put it in a nutshell, local placement should be an indispensable aspect of your content marketing strategy.

Local customers also rely on search engines to look up businesses around them. According to LocalVox statistics, 43% of web searches use a local keyword on a daily basis. Of those searches, 86% come from highly qualified leads. Almost always, these searches lead them to visit the physical locations or the website of those vendors.

Regardless of your overall content marketing strategy, you need to look out for keywords commonly used by customers in your locality. For web designers in Los Angeles for instance, they can attract clients from their locality using keywords like, web designers Los Angeles, Web design Los Angeles, website design Los Angeles, Los Angeles web design, web design company Los Angeles, web site design Los Angeles, or web design in Los Angeles.

You can jump on this strategy to target keywords relevant to your locality as well. However, unless you are physically present in a city, don’t use any local keyword.

Be Consistent

A great way to engage customers is to maintain consistency in your content. When we talk about consistency, publishing regularly doesn’t cut the bill alone. Maintaining a consistent quality, tone, and voice are also quintessential. A style sheet can help you curate a consistent tone and voice and you can plan consistent distribution with the help of a content calendar. These items can fine-tune distribution, notate special events, trigger the sharing of content ideas, and make your team stick to a clearly defined schedule. This will also help you gain an edge over your competitors.

Comment on Relevant Blogs

Commenting on a blog is a great way to attract the attention of the audiences of other bloggers and cement relationships with them. Not to mention, leaving thoughtful, positive, and detailed comments is bound to rub well with the author, as well as their followers. In addition, it won’t harm you to leave a link back to your website in the comments section so that people can click on the link and end up on your website. This can greatly channel traffic to your website. Remember to leave a valuable reply and not spam it. As an industry expert, your suggestions and feedback will be valued.

Build More Targeted Landing Pages

When Neil Patel created advanced guides on a lot of other internet marketing topics, such as SEO, his search traffic saw a massive surge. Each advanced guide was followed by its own landing page, which was optimized for the applicable keywords.

Nuffield Health saw a 60% boost in their revenue when they optimized their landing pages for the best keywords. They embarked on a journey of constant learning in their quest to know their customers and market inside out and then apply their discoveries to their content. In another example, each landing page of Copyblogger Media targets a keyword that the target audience is actively searching for. This is a splendid example of a brand developing a sound content marketing strategy. When it comes to creating landing pages, using the right keywords and building your content around them is the key.

Facebook’s Instant Article

Bloggers, content marketers and publishers looking to publish news can greatly benefit from Facebook’s Instant Article. This HTML-document is optimized for customized visual display, exclusive design, rich and engaging storytelling capabilities, and fast mobile performance. Facebook’s Instant Article is the only way for people who access Facebook through their smartphones to view articles on the app in the same format as the publisher’s website. Facebook’s Instant Article is great because of:

  • Analytics: web based analytic systems help publishers track articles
  • Customization: Multimedia can be incorporated within an article, such as geo-tagged media, audio-caption, and slideshow
  • Speed: stories are displayed faster than on a run-of-the-mill mobile browser.

Leverage SEO

If garnering organic traffic is your end goal, you need to incorporate accurate SEO seamlessly into your content marketing strategy. Highly ranked pages yield top-notch click- through rates, and this is where SEO jumps in; helping your website rank higher on search engines. A viable SEO strategy, complete with descriptive URLs, quality images, effective meta-descriptions, and long-tai keywords can boost website traffic and CTR.

Analyze and Optimize

Unless you are constantly measuring the performance of your content, you can never know for sure if it is driving enough traffic to your website.

Knowing what type of content performs the best is critical to content marketing and A/B is particularly useful in this regard. Cherry on top of the cake, split A/B testing helps you gain a deep insight into your target audience, which would help you create content tailored to their needs. Anything on your website that can affect user behavior can be tested, but the focus should be on elements that affect the flow of traffic to your site, such as landing pages, site speed, images, content length, call to action, and headline, and so on. Your social media strategy becomes clearer when you have determined which content types work best for you.

With that said, here is a list of the best web analytics tools that you can use for blogger outreach in 2019.

Website-Analysis-Tools

Buzzsumo

you go for this one.

While Buzzsumo is a go-to tool for many reasons, the one I found the most interesting is that it is a mixture of both SEO and influencer tools. In fact, in our whole list until now, we were only able to find Buzzsumo that offers both features.

A few ways you can use this tool to search for blogger outreach in 2019 is through two of its major features:

  • Twitter Influencers
  • Trending content in a particular niche

Both of these features allow you to find influencers and bloggers that are associated with a high niche website. Once you have the connection made, ask the influencer for a guest post or a product review which will ultimately benefit you in guest posting service.

Currently, Buzzsumo is priced at $79/monthly for a basic version.

Now the big question, should you choose Buzzsumo?

Well, if you are an established business then choosing Buzzsumo would be a plausible idea. But if you are just starting out, then our recommendation is that you should not spend money on Buzzsumo because other better tools are available in the market that you can use for lower cost.

BuzzStream

Buzzstream isn’t much different from Buzzsumo. It has the same influencer tools and also allows monitoring of twitter conversations, sending and tracking emails, and providing email templates. It doesn’t offer keyword tracking and trending articles about a topic or a keyword. But Buzzstream can get the job done especially when you are looking for blogger outreach tools.

It is currently available for $24 for two people. But the price can go up to $999 if 15 or more people would want to use the tool.

USP

Twitter influencer monitoring and a specifically built influencer impact score checker by BuzzStream are some tools that will help you go for this one.

Build Buzz

Group High

Group High is considered as the swiss-army-knife of for blogger outreach, influencer marketing, and email marketing automation. It is perfect for all those who want to find influencers but don’t know how to get started.

USP

The built-in dashboard allows users to manage, maintain, and generate leads – all through a single holistic dashboard that comes with the Group high membership.

Email Verification Tools

Last but not least, we are providing a list of tools that can find if emails of the users are active or not. Because if the email addresses aren’t active, it would be a waste of time to formulate specific messages for them. That’s why we created this email verification list.

Contentmarketer.io

ContentMarketer.io is now known as Mail Shake. The best way to define Content Marketer is when you send cold emails to turn them into leads.

Turn-Cold-Emails-to-Leads

While this software is great, but it is complicated at the same time. The software allows users to search for influencers from the list and then pitch to them using its own platform.

USP

Sending Cold Emails was never this easier. Mail-Shake aka Content Marketer allows users to send as many emails as they want through templates without wrecking their hairs.

Hunter.io

Was that email you send delivered to the recipient? That’s the first question coming to our mind. The second question is, was it opened?! Answering both off these questions is a little difficult especially if you are new to the world of content marketing. But with Hunter.io it is now more possible than ever.

It is one great email outreach tools in 2019 because it allows users to find, verify, and track emails – helping throughout the email marketing journey.

Connect with anyone

USP

We all love free stuff, don’t we? That’s why Hunter has provided 100 free requests through the software for literally free every month.

If you are a heavy user, then it is better to go for Hunter.io paid version. A basic paid version of the software will cut you back by $39.

The best part about the software? It comes with a Google extension that you can enable to instantly know the email when you visit a website.

Press Hunt

Imagine having a database of over 400,000 journalists’ email addresses right in your palm? That’s what Press Hunt email outreach tools do for you. It allows you to find emails of journalists from around the world to pitch them about your next big product. Press Hunt is similar to Hunter.io in finding emails, but Press Hunt is dedicated to Journalist’s emails and phone numbers purely. It allows a few searches for almost free. But if you are really looking to use this tool for Blogger Outreach then you should subscribe to the paid version of the tool for $69+/month.

USP

The tool scraps the web to find emails, social media links, phone numbers and everything else that is associated with journalists and bloggers. If you are looking for mass outreach campaigns for your blog, then this is one tool that you should have in your arsenal.

What if You Can’t Use These Tools?
There is a possibility that you are either not proficient enough to use the tools for blogger outreach, or don‘t have time to do so. So, in such a case, what should you do?

Delegate the Task

The best way to get the job done faster is by delegating the task to a blogger outreach service that has experts to get this sort of job done. They already have contacts with many bloggers and can easily form partnerships of your website. This includes cross blogpost exchange, promotions, announcements, and even press releases. In fact, they will offer all the services that your website needs to improve its search rankings.

Final Word

SEO is changing every day. The algorithms are now more advanced than ever, that is one reason we see contact fluctuations in rankings of websites. The best way to overcome this approach is to form long-lasting relationships with other bloggers so that you can cross blogpost and gain exposure as well as link juice. We hope the tools blogger outreach tools mentioned in this article will be of great help to you in increasing your search rankings and gaining more exposure.
